Yes everyone jumped on that bandwagon yesterday. I didn’t. Love my daughter but I’m not a fb lemming.
Exactly. I want to do a social experiment actually. I want to post about something completely fictitious, like- In honor of National Love your Spouse day, here is 27 pictures and a long diatribe about my spouse!
And then see how many sheep start posting something similar and see how far it spreads. Even though I just completely made it up and pulled it out of my ass.
Just like the people who keep posting fake news over and over again without looking into it. Fear mongering,
It's really scary actually....
Why the hate. Why the name calling. It’s all in good fun. Who said if you don’t do it you don’t love your kid
It’s just a fun thing to do.

It’s the social pressure to do what everyone else does and then having to feel bad if you don’t do it. If we follow as adults, can you imagine what our kids will go through with social media?!? It’s sad!

This exactly. It's indicative of a larger social issue actually. A follower mentality that has gotten 20 times worse since the advent of social media. If adults are sheep, what can we expect of kids.

You know what else has increased exponentially since the dawn of social media? Name calling and “bullying” people for posting things that make them happy

If you consider this thread "bullying' you are way too sensitive
People can vent about shit that bothers them. If you are confident in your decisions- on Facebook and real life- it shouldn't bother you.
People don't like a lot of shit that I do- I shrug, laugh and move on. I don't consider it bullying.

Who is pressuring people to take part? And if you don’t do it and feel confident in it then you wouldn’t feel bad
But why are those that enjoy it and just think of it as fun sheep?

I understand the pictures of your kids because people like to see them grow up. But the messages to people (especially kids) who are not on FB—are really super bizarre to me. It’s like standing in the checkout line of the supermarket and randomly spouting out HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL, KIND, AND INTELLIGENT DAUGHTER! WE ARE SO PROUD OF THE YOUNG WOMAN YOU’VE BECOME!

I agree! I write all that stuff in my daughter’s birthday cards that I give to her and I save them for her. I don’t need to broadcast it on fb.

Same. And DH and I don't communicate to each other on FB in any way, shape or form. We do that, you know, to each other's faces without having to let the whole world know. Crazy right? Like it's 1985 or something!

Good idea! Actually, post about it on FB. Then watch the shit storm of 1000 other people posting tributes to themselves for "national me day". Not to be left out! You will start a whole viral thing. Watch!

I actually don’t do any of those things you listed. Guess I’m in the minority... my kid doesn’t have fb so it seems weird to write them a message... hubby I can see him in person without telling the whole world my feelings lol. And pictures actually still get snail mailed out to family and friends... keeping it old school

LOL, i meant I agree with that part of the post. It sounds stupid when people post a shout out on FB, such as "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL, KIND, AND INTELLIGENT DAUGHTER! WE ARE SO PROUD OF THE YOUNG WOMAN YOU’VE BECOME "

No. Never.
My kid has no social media presence. Like not a single photo. She’s also 3 and can neither use Facebook nor read.
Posting a message to a spouse on social media isn’t for the spouse. It’s for other people to read. If the person is as in love with their spouse as they claim, I would assume they have in person communication and could convey their feelings in a more personal manner.
Also, isn’t fb uncool now anyway? Doesn’t everyone use Instagram?

Re: National "whatever" Days
The National Days, although, a silly concept I find them funny and entertaining. I like getting donuts on national donut day in my office etc.
The purpose of me having an IG account is to see pictures and for me to post pictures. I don’t get why people complain about content being posted on social media. That is the point of it, to share whatever you want with your audience. That is what is was designed for, if it annoys you then social media is not for you. When someone post crazy stuff I unfollow them or maybe hide their posts on FB. But it’s still their right to post whatever they want and they aren’t doing anything wrong because it was designed for people to posts non trivial things. It wasn’t designed to report breaking news. As long as they aren’t hurting anyone, who da fuq cares???
I post travel pics, happy Birthday pics, happy anniversary pics.. my husband, son and nieces love it. And if someone doesn’t like it they can simply take two seconds and press the lovely “unfollow” button. Because whether I get 0 likes or 1000 likes, I’m still posting that sh!t for me because I want to and that’s what these platforms were designed for (which I won’t because I have like 100 followers maybe ). Post and share!!!
Everyone else can delete the app or unfollow! If you don’t like people using social media for what it was designed for then it sounds like it’s not for you.

But so what? I don’t get why it’s a issue if I wish my husband a happy birthday
Or celebrate my kid by saying how much I love them
Like I said before. It’s in good fun. It’s celebrating love.
And yes. My husband and I do convey it as well.
If you look at a fb post of someone wishing a person they love good thoughts and have a problem with it. Then maybe social media is not for you
I have no idea what’s cool or not. I’m just a sheep

A small fraction of my fb friends have insta. But I was never in the cool crowd...lol I do have I.G. but mostly follow celebs..lol
I think the cool kids are onto snapchat now anyway
Ets: I could not care less if people post shout out to their spouses, kids, parents, siblings , pets, etc. Id much rather see that than political sh!t. And not sure why people care. Let people be. It isnt hurting anyone.
