Need advice: Another failed IVF
I just found out that my second IVF didn't work. I am a complete mess because I thought this one was really going to work. I did a day 3 transfer and they transfered what they said looked excellent quality embryos (1 8 cell and the other was 6)Now I have 4 frozen that are 6 celled. My question is should I bother to do a FET or should I go to a different doctor and start another fresh IVF cycle? I have gotten 8 eggs each time with different protocols. The first time 4 only fertilized none to freeze this time 6 fertilized with 4 to freeze. My issues are endometriosis and fsh of 11. I am 30 years old. I don't know what to do. If anyone has any advice please share. Thank you. Just want to add that I have been pregnant before from IUI but miscarried at 8 weeks due to abnormal chromosome.

No advice but I wanted to let you know that my good friend is currently 6 months pregnant due to a second batch frozen cycle. She thought it would never work since the quality of these eggs wasn't nearly as good as the first two. It can definitely happen. GL

Re: Need advice: Another failed IVF
I am so sorry your cycle didn't work... I know that it's sad and frustrating and I that your time is soon.
I don't know if there is any science behind this, but a few drs and friends have told me that some patients respond better to frozen cycles. One RE flat out told me that she prefers frozen cycles because all of the crazy hormones are out of the body (for the most part) and that the embryos have a more natural environment to implant and grow.
If you've never tried a frozen cycle, you might want to try it. I heard that they are way less intensive and might be a good break between fresh cycles. Good luck!!!

Re: Need advice: Another failed IVF
I am sorry this IVF did not work for you. My first question would be have you done anything about the endo? Maybe surgery to clear some of it up would help. Your FSH is slightly elevated but not too bad. To be honest, the number of eggs you have gotten from stimulation so far is not very good. IVF is a numbers game and the more eggs you get the better. I would also suggest getting some good genetic testing done for you and DH just to rule out potential problems in that area since you miscarried. Since you have 2 failed IVF's I would consider at least getting a second opinion from another RE. HTH and hang in there!

Re: Need advice: Another failed IVF
Thank you all for your responses. I will give you guys some more of my history because I would love to here some of your opinions. I had a lapo done last april where they found moderate endo and removed it all. I then got pregnant on my first IUI with clomid but miscarried. They said it was an extra chromosome and that it could happen to anyone but I pushed them to do extra testing so they did. They said my husband and I are both ok but that because of my fsh my egg quality isnt that great. So thats why I decided to do IVF. I did go for a second opinion to Cornell after my first failed IVf cycle. He ran some other tests that came out normal. He said he would come up with a different protocol based on the results of this past cycle. I stayed with my original re for the second one because they take my husbands ins and cornell does not. So do I waste more money on a FET or dip into my savings and go to Cornell for a fresh cycle? Thanks again!

I would probably do the FET and if it failed, head straight to Cornell. Good luck!

Re: Need advice: Another failed IVF
I would do the FET for a couple reasons, the main being that your body is not under the stress it would be from a fresh IVF cycle. My last IVF cycle I didn't do a fresh transfer because of the related stress. Secondly, an FET is much less expensive than a fresh cycle. And, just because the embies were frozen at 6 cells doesn't mean they won't grow when thawed...I had this happen a few times.
Good luck!

I am so sorry I agree with the others, I would do the FET because you never know that might work!! If that does not work, maybe go to another doctor.

I would also do a FET.
Have you looked into NYU? I heard they are one of the best in the city (if that's where you go).

Re: Need advice: Another failed IVF
I am so sorry your 2nd cycle didn't work. I am basically in the same boat. My 2nd cycle failed too and I have 5 frozen and still do not know what to do with them. After my 2nd cycle failed I went for a second opinion (Dr. Braverman) and he sent me for so many other tests my first RE didn't (mostly immunologial tests) he also found adenomyosis that former RE missed and said that for whatever 'problem' we find there is a treatment. I don't know where you go and certainly do not want to push my RE on you, but it's another opinion. I wish you luck in whatever you choose to do.
