Need Advice-DH may be on a Reality Show-UPDATED in OP
So my BIL applied to be on Hell's Kitchen(why he would want to get abused by Gordon Ramsey I will never know but I digress) Apparently someone called him who is a producer on a different reality show coming up called Great American Road Trip
So my SIL cannot do it because she has a 5 year old and would have to leave him for a month or two to do this and he would miss the last two months of kindergarden. So my BIL asked my husband to participate. So it would be my BIL, neice who is 11 and nephew who is 14. They give them an RV and they travel around the country ala The Amazing Race for families. There will be 7 families competing and the prize is 1 million dollars. So basically a 1 in 7 chance of winning 1 mil split between us so we would end up with around $300,000.
For anyone that doesn't know, we have 4 month old twins, we live in Raleigh with no family around and my DH just started a new job which he'd have to take a leave of absence from. The show would pay $1000 per week while filming. I need help with this:
Positives
We will NEVER ever have another 1 in 7 chance to win 1 million dollars
They pay while filming so we wouldn't miss his salary
Great adventure for my husband
Bonding experience with neice and nephew
Negatives
He would be away from home and the babies possibly for 2 months
I would be pretty much on my own-I do have a babysitter but thats it
I work full time from home and travel 1-2 times a week.
What do you think? Crazy or not?
Updated Friday: So las nigt he had a long talk with the casting agent who is who my BIL had been dealing with. Apparently the prize is not known. Not sure where the million dollar thing came from(maybe my BIL's wishful thinking) So he decied not to go to the meeting. They may pursue him or not-we are not sure. So for right now we will just be ourselves not reality stars!

I would do it. It's a once in a lifetime chance.
It would be hard on you but maybe the producer could help you arrange some other child care to help?
everything can be negotiated.

if YOU can deal with the negatives, the positives are awesome.
you are getting the shorter end of the stick, but I can imagine that the chance at 300,000 would be something too good to pass up.
this is not a lotto chance, this is a REAL chance.

I wouldn't do it.... mainly becuase I love my privacy way too much... I would be  about DH being in the public spotlight.
IMO, reality TV shows tend to exploit people for financial gain... no person on a reality show ever walks away with their dignity intact.

Personally - I wouldn't do it.
I loathe reality TV and couldn't imagine having my husband filmed for it. I don't know if I'd want my husband to miss 2 months of my babies lives either.
So personally for us? It would be a no go.
I absolutely do not fault anyone else for doing it - weigh your pros and cons and see what's most important to you!

It would be a hard chance to pass up.. but I just really don't know how I'd feel about it.

For me personally, I would never do something like that. I'm way too private of a person. On the other hand, if it were my DH that wanted to do it, I would have NO problem telling him to go ahead with it.

Yep-that is a concern
that would be the biggest negative. Having a job in this economy is paramount.
If the winnings were way higher then not having a job for a while wouldn't matter so much...that is if he won.

Wow, it is an amazing opportunity. If your husband is even keeled and you think he can handle the pressure of being on a reality show, without giving the producers any material that could possibly be exploited, I say go for it. I believe you said he would be gone for 2 months... that isn't extremely long and there is a chance at winning a large sum of money that could really the improve quality of life for your family!
