Re: Need Advice-DH may be on a Reality Show
Some good thinking points have already been brought up. If there were no concerns about keeping his job, he was OK with the ramifications of being on television, you think it would be feasible to handle the babies during the week with just you and the sitter, etc., I'd say go for it. Two months without him would be hard, but doable. But if there was a real chance he might lose his job, that would be the big deal breaker for me.

Re: Need Advice-DH may be on a Reality Show
"He would be away from home and the babies possibly for 2 months"
This would be the deciding factor for me. I have an 11 month old and I could not imagine DH being away for that long and me being alone to do it all. I can barely get through each day now. Plus, DD changes SO much, week to week, it would be sad for DH to miss it. I know if we HAD to do it because we were poor and had no money, or if DH was in the army or something I could deal, but just for 'fun", no way.

If you can swing it financially and emotionally then go for it! Once in a lifetime chance. Perhaps there is someone who could come and stay with you or maybe several different friends can plan visits while he would be away.

Re: Need Advice-DH may be on a Reality Show
The job issue would be my only concern. If you win....not a big deal. But if he doesn't win and has no job to come back to= big deal.
2 months will feel like forever, but will be over faster than you could imagine. My DH had to go away for work training for a month. I thought it was going to be awful. The days passed slowly....but that month was over so quick. And now, 5 months later, it doesn't even feel like he ever left. GL

Re: Need Advice-DH may be on a Reality Show
Difficult decision.. i'd think about how he'd get along with BIL and nephews and if he'd want to take a 2 months long road trip with them in the first place. Remember, travelling always makes people cranky and there will be cameras capturing their every moment. I'd be more concerned about DH or his family being portrayed as something they're not just because of how the show was edited. It does sound exciting, but his being away from your babies for 2 months is a big thing to consider as well.
good luck!

DO IT!!!!!
The only thing I would be concerned about is DH's NEW job. Can he take a leave of absence if he just started? But, heck if you win 300K who cares??? r

Re: Need Advice-DH may be on a Reality Show
It changes things for me that he'll be home on the weekends.
My major concern would be the press entering my life, DH's job security & if DH become one of those attention seeking reality show stars (if given the chance).
My co-worker was on Amazing Race. There are appearances afterwards you should consider as well.
All of that taken into consideration, I'd probably say go for it.

Good points. I doubt it but who knows!
He is flying to NY tomorrow to meet with the producers so I'll update after that. No decisions have been made yet so we are just testing the waters. Thanks everyone

Re: Need Advice-DH may be on a Reality Show
We had a reality TV show take over our summer house. The show treated most people in the community horribly and painted a negative picture of most of the people there. I would be very leery about being on a reality TV show although you have described a somewhat tempting offer.
