NEED ADVICE: Question regarding a bathroom???
A few months agao ,my bff recently had to add a 3rd full bath in her basement to accomodate her father who was ill and wound up moving in with her. A friend of hers did the work in a matter of weeks. Well recently her father passed away, and now she has decided to put her house on the market. How will that work since the 3rd bath has no permit? Is it possible that a buyer wouldn't care since its a nice bathroom and we all know bathrooms can cost a lot to put in?
Say a buyer wanted the house, would their engineer have to say something about the bathroom to the lawyer at closing?
She of course could appy for the permit, but she knows it can take a while.... and can she get in trouble for putting it in BEFORE she got a permit to do so??
Sorry for all the questions.. I told her i'd post the question here and see what advice came rolling in... TIA!!

I didn't know you needed a permit for a bathroom in the basement??? We bought a house with a bathroom in the basement and nobody said a word about a permit.

it depends what town you're in...but i hear banks look the other way with basement bathrooms because it's seen as an apartment and they will never get approved for a c/o.
