Need advice...we're trying a bottle for the first time tonight
DD will be 9 weeks on Friday and this will be our first attempt at giving her a bottle. DH will give it to her tonight for her early evening feed.
Any advice on what to do, how to give it to her? I'm guessing we aim the nipple for the roof of her mouth just like when BF, but other than that, not sure what to do to try to make it a successful feed. I'm kind of nervous.
We're using a Tommee Tippee closer to nature bottle with a slow flow nipple, if it makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

No technique, just put the bottle in DC's mouth, let baby suck. You can always twist the nipple and bottle in their mouth, it lets them know the bottle is there.

Can't wait to read advice. DH just tried DS with a bottle this week, tomee tipee as well. It didn't go well at all. I was able to get some drops in his mouth but that was it.

I'd suggest that you leave the room so that DC can't smell you. Have your DH hold her with her back to him so she's in a different position than she's used to being in when breastfeeding. Good luck!

ITA with leaving the room so that the baby dosnt sense you are there. Also, try holding thw bortle more horizontally so that he has to work harder to get te milk out. DH will walk around while feeding DS to distract him if he gets upset. If it dosnt go well dont worry, just try giving a bottle a day to get him used to it.

at 9 weeks we tried our first as well... just take pp's advice and leave the room and your dc will be fine.. it worked well for us too at that time.. but my one peice of advise I have for you is that once you start DO NOT STOP... give one bottle a day at least.. we stopped for a few weeks and when we tried to go back to it my ds out right refuses the bottle.. we should have never stopped. Good luck..
