Need help/opinions with kitchen (long, lots of pics!)
We are about to begin redoing out kitchen. Upper and lower cabinets will be an off white. My style is vintage/country/cottage. This pic has inspired me a lot:
Tablecloth- just to give an idea of colors.
Counters will be walnut.
Now I'm trying to decide on fixtures and backsplash. A relative has a tin backsplash in a silvery color and I love it, but I'm going for warmer colors. I was thinking about the bronze.
But I don't know if it will be too dark with the dark countertop.
I also like this faucet:
but again, I don't know if it's too much "dark." I was going to go with oil rubbed bronze knobs and handles on the cabinets and I'd like the look to be coordinated.
Thoughts? Other ideas? I have the cabinets and counter- so those are staying- but backsplash, etc, can be changed.
Thanks!

I wouldn't go with ORB for the faucet. I feel like it's trendy.
Stick with stainless steel/brushed nickel - even if you go ORB for knobs.
I don't know if I'd do the tin on the backsplash - are you doing the beadboard on the ceiling?
If not - do a beadboard backsplash - and you can paint it a shabby color. Use the moisture resistant paint made for bathrooms.
Just suggestions - I LOVE shabby/victorian/country looks!

What color are you painting your kitchen?
If you painted it SW silverpointe (on your tablecloth swatch) you could do the backsplash in Bees Wax.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of beadboard- the other idea I had was the textured wallpaper that looks like ceiling tile- I have it in my power room and love it- and it's paintable. I also saw a kitchen in a magazine recently where the homeonwner did it and it looked nice. We're not going to do beadboard on the ceiling.

I'm not sure about colors- I was going to use a neutral color on the walls because I have a corner cabinet that's stained, but I want to do it in a fun color that pops. It might be fun to do a colored backsplash too. I need to go to a store to see colors in person- some of the suggestions I got were good (Sherwin Williams Chip It) and some were weird.

I personally think the backsplash is too dark. On the other hand, I love tin backsplashes lol.
I would look for another backsplash to make the room brighter

Neutral is great b/c then you can keep changing the color of the backsplash!
Love the textured wallpaper idea too!
OH - and a good country green:
Benjamin Moore Liberty Park
Can have SW color match...

Oooh, I like that green.
I am leaning towards the wallpaper with good paint over it. I also want to see if I can find that magazine pic, just to have another visual. They also make a beadboard-look wallpaper, which I put in my upstairs hallway to cover some imperfections. It looks nice and might be another possibility.

love your style! Have you seen the bronze tin backsplash in person? The house we're possibly buying has that in the kitchen - and we're not fans. Maybe its the way the kitchen is done, but it klooks a little cheap, and doesnt go with their country theme. It actualy looks very gold and "glam," theme...
