Need Potty training tips/advice (NOT 3 day potty training)

My DD is 27 months and for the past 2 weeks she tells me occasionally that she has to do peepee on the potty, and when I put her on it, she does go. Sometimes a little, and then she says she's not done, and we wait and then she does more. She has even pooped on the potty twice! I haven't officially started training her yet, so I feel this is great and that she is ready for more official training. She gets 2 M&Ms every time she goes pee/poop on the potty, and this system has been a success bc it's the only time she gets M&MS, and she loves them.

My questions are, how do I get her to tell me EVERYTIME she has to go? When should I start putting her in underwear? How do we go out during the training process and not risk accidents?

I know people swear by the 3 day method, but I have carpet in my living room, and a small house and can't really have DD peeing on everything that first day.

Any tips advice are appreciated! TIA!

i modified the 3 day potty training- i put plastic table cloths on my rugs to prevent that issue of peeing all over everything.
You have to remind her to 'tell mommy when you have to go pee pee' in the beginning, ever 15 mins.. Have to leave her in control. Then when she has an accident= make her stop playing and have her clean up.. she wont like cleaning up..

My advice, wait. More work then its worth at this age. Getting her to poop on the potty is great, but getting out of diapers for pee is going to impact every car ride, every trip to the play ground... public restrooms and two year olds aren't much fun.

I totally disagree with this. We potty trained DD at 25 months and took a 6 hour car trip to Vermont less than a week after we started training her with the 3 day method and she didn't have an accident. We keep a potty in the car and if she has to go we pull over. I brought the travel potty with me for the first few weeks wherever we went and never had a problem. Now when we are out we have plastic disposable covers that we use for public restrooms. I think diapers are gross and couldn't wait to get DD out of them.

DD did have accidents on our carpet the first two days, but I just cleaned them up. And it was brand new carpet! I think as long as the diaper is on you will not have 100% success, so I say take it off!

agreed.

My dd was trained at 24 months in 3 days. had accidents- to be expected but nothing that couldnt be cleaned.

My boys were 2 1/2- twins and did the same and got it done.

Place underwears on immediately. Go out with her, let her pick them out. Make it fun and understands she becoming a big girl.

Consistency is key. She drinks, 20 min later ask her or place on potty. A little reward does help as well when shes done :)
We did an M&M - they would applaud in enjoyment.

GL!

I did a modified version. My DD is about to turn 3 and we just got her to pee in the potty. I started at 2.5 years but it didn't work she was not ready.

I made a sticker chart for her and bought her a cute potty. I just put underwear on her and of course she peed on the rug and floor which easily came out. Its not as strong as adult pee if you know what I mean lol. When we went out we put pull-ups on her and she kept them dry. She was resisting the potty but when she finally sat on it she peed. We clapped and cheered and put the stickers on the chart.

Clues that she gave was that she tells us "It hurts" she touches her area, she says my poo poo lol and as soon as I hear or see that we go to the potty and she does it. We went to an event on Saturday I brought the seat that you put on the toilet and she gave me her signs and she went.

She understands the feeling and urge to pee which is a huge sign. Now trying to get her to poop, which has been a challenge.
