Need PROTEIN ideas - can't tolerate red meat!

Okay... so thanks to some advice from a fellow LIFer (thanks, Arodisi!), I realized I need more protein in my diet. After feeling light headed this evening, I ate some cheese and felt a lot better!

The problem is that the past couple of times I've tried good ol' red meat, it made me REALLY sick, so I'm afraid to try it again. So, I think I'm REALLY lacking in protein.

Plus, the only foods I DON'T have an aversion to seem to be CARBS - and I even get nauseated thinking of eating those a lot lately.

Please list some proteins that are great go-to foods. I needs some ideas. And it's not that I don't know what proteins are - I'm just at a loss since SO mnay foods make me nauseous even THINKING about them these days! So, the more suggestions, the better chance I'll be able to find SOMETHING that will work for me! Thank you soooooo much!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I ate a lot of soy products during my first trimester, especially Morningstar Farms products.

Eggs are also a good substitute, you can make it in a fritata with lots of vegetables and cheese.

Beans of course too.

This is really good advice. Eggs were a huge help to me. Also, peanut butter is very helpful when you are on the go!

How about peanut butter on double protein bread? Or greek yogurt or a protein bar as a snack?

Re: Need PROTEIN ideas - can't tolerate red meat!

is it all meat/poultry or just red meat

I think most of the above suggestions are great

- def greek yogurt (esp FAGE brand which has the most protein. .like 9 grams in small cup)

- also beans/whole grains

the grain Quinoa has the highest protein of any grain so if you eat that with something else you can really be good.

You are not alone! I cannot stomach red meats, or any meats for that matter!
PB&J has been my staple!
