Need Serious Sleep Help! I'm going out of my mind!
DD is almost 2. Going to bed is a NIGHTMARE! I'm going out of my mind.
She used to go to bed around 7:30-8:00- but now she's not going to bed until 9:00-9:30, which is too late IMO.
She only wants me to put her to sleep. Our routine is we go into her room, and she goes in her crib. I read her at least 2 books (which I don't mind at all). After this is when all hell breaks loose. I cannot leave her room until she falls asleep- which is usually about 30-40 minutes. I have tried to sneak out, and she always catches me, and cries if I leave. Sometimes we have to take her for a car ride- but that doesn't always work.
I've tried to start our routine earlier so that she goes to bed earlier, but it never fails that she delays by crying, wanting her daddy, asking me to read more books, or just taking longer to fall asleep.
I feel like part of this is us because we started this "bad habit."
Its taking its toll majorly on me. I just started to cry last night when it was 9:30pm and I had just walked out of DD's room.
Help! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Need Serious Sleep Help! I'm going out of my mind!
Can I ask you - if you just wait until 9:30 to put her to bed does she do the same thing or go right to sleep?
The reason why I ask is b/c my DS (who I think is around the same age as your DD 22.5 mos) has been going to sleep later and later (he has always had a later bedtime though). The later he goes to bed the longer and better he sleeps - if I try to put him to sleep earlier (even if he is tired or if I have woken him up earlier that day) he either takes forever to go to sleep or wakes up in the middle of the night. As he has gotten older his biological clock seems to have changed - I find going with it has worked out best for us.
Not sure if that is what is happening to you but I thought I'd offer my experience

Thanks for sharing your experience!
At first, we just thought that she wanted to go to bed later- and we started trying to put her to bed later- but she still does the same thing! So, if I wait until 9:30 to bring her into her room and read her books to her, its still 10-10:15 before I can leave.
