Need some "Big Sister" Ideas
I am pregnant with #2, due in March, and my DD will be 4.5 when the new baby arrives. She is so, so excited about becoming a big sister and I really want to make her feel special the next few months before the LO arrives. What are some special gifts or things that you did with your older child prior to the new baby being born? Just looking for some ideas. I know she really wants a "I'm the big sister" shirt and she has asked to pick out a special "blankie" for the new baby but what are some other things I can do for/with her? Thanks!!!!

Re: Need some "Big Sister" Ideas
First - Congratulations!!!
Second - what an exciting time for her! I will tell you some of the things that I included my daughter in when I was pregnant with #2. My daughter was the same age as yours.
We took her to my OB appts...she wanted to come so we let her...my OB was very interactive with her as well, so that helped...she also came to my sonograms.
We got her big sister shirts (yes a couple, cause she was wearing them everyday...lol)
While I was pregnant, we needed to build a room in our house for the nursery...her dad let her help out with that process.
We took her to the library and got her big sister books.
We took her to the sibling class at the hospital that she LOVED!!! So she got to make things to put in the baby's hospital bassinet. Like a picture of her with our dog.
We told her she could pick out a coming home outfit (we didn't know what we were having) so she ended up getting the below outfit for a boy and girl).
We would also let her pick out little things like the little stuff animals that hang from the infant car seat. She wanted to pick out a bath towel and stuff like that.
All the little gifts like the take home outfit and the stuffed animals, we put in a gift bag so that when we had the baby she can give them to the baby as a gift.
We also got DD#1 a gift from the baby. My daughter never really played video games, so we had gotten her a DS. Which worked out perfect she played it on the way back and forth to the hospital (30 mins away) and in the hospital when she needed down time.
And throughout the entire pregnancy we read through a week by week pregnancy book...to show her the growth of the baby.
I hope this helps...sorry it was so long. And let me know if you have any questions :)

Maybe get her a locket that you can put a pic of her and the baby in. Also, the suggestions that Marcie gave were great!!

One of my favorite things someone told me to do was to get DD her own baby doll bassinet/co-sleeper for her room and to get her her own new baby doll, gender specific to what you're having, to take home from the hospital. She was so excited that she had her own new baby too!
