Need some honest pricing advice please!!

I hope you guys don't mind me asking - but I need some advice on pricing my new line of sterling jewelry I designed and make and I figured this would be a good place to get a bunch of answers.

I have been looking around the internet for similar items and pricing ideas - and I am really surprised at how varied the prices are.

I dont want to overprice myself - but I dont want to underprice either - it takes me a long time to make this jewelry. It's all handmade and high polished sterling silver.

I am going to post some pics - can you guys give me some HONEST ideas of what you would pay for them max) retail - I am curious to see if it's inline with what my ideas are.

TIA!

Wow, it's beautiful! I don't know much about jewelry pricing, but I'm sure that if you stress the fact that it's handmade, people will pay more for it.

Re: Need some honest pricing advice please!!

I was just looking up handmade jewelry prices and the majority seemed to be in the $50-$100 range. Don't know if that helps at all.

I would easily pay $60-85 dollars for the necklaces.

Jen, I love your jewelry! I don't know about pricing, but I can definitely see myself paying $60 or so for something like that!

I think that you should def. stress that the jewelry will be one of a kind - girls love to think that they are the only ones wearing it. It depends on who your selling to - they can range anywhere from 50 - 125 I think.

I think the hearts and shapes can easily get $65-75. The Dragonfly could be more easily. The earrings I could see getting $45. Probably more. Good luck!!!

Re: Need some honest pricing advice please!!

Ok, I am being HONEST here. First of all, it's beautiful.
If I were you, I would start lower to get your jewelry out there. My friend is an artist and makes BEAUTIFUL handmade jewelry, and when she first started, she priced it too high and no one bought it. Then she lowered it ridiculously and sold a ton. Now people look for her at trade shows and craft shows because they know her work and she can charge a lot more.
I would start at $25 or $30. This way it's affordable. Once you get your name out there, slowly increase the price. OR, have your prices based on the amount of work that goes into making a particular piece of jewelry. This way people will feel like they are getting "more" for their money when they spend a lot more. Does that make sense?
Again, your jewelry is gorgeous! I'll have to tell me friend she has serious competition out there!Chat Icon

Re: Need some honest pricing advice please!!

Before reading the posts 50 dollars came to my mind.. Im not into jewlery but I know a friend that is that im sure would pay more then me for those necklaces.
I would think if you are just starting out to keep your prices as low as you can, making a minimal profit to get your name out there.
They are really beautiful.

Me too, before reading the posts $50 for the shapes, up to $75 for the heavier dragonfly and 25-35 for the earrings.

Question - how heavy are they? That might make a difference too. If it has some weight to it I would be concerned about the chain being strong enough, or do I see it doubled up in one?

Good luck I love them!

Edited to add that they really are truly unique, I am sure if you found the perfect niche some would pay WAY more for your pieces. I just wouldn't because its not that important to me, but I could totally see someone paying $100 or more....

Re: Need some honest pricing advice please!!

I was just in Banana Republic the other day and they have very similar designs in the necklaces. They were about 40 dollar range. And i think i would start about that.
I think pricing any higher you are risking people going elsewhere to get it.

Thank you!

Thanks everyone- I really appreciate the advice. I have a big show this week and wanted to make sure I kept the prices in a sellable range. You really helped me out a lot.
