Need suggestions on what to buy for a 1 year old please.
We are going to my DH's cousin's daughter's 1st birthday party and I have no clue what to get her. (We've never met her before.)
Both of her parents are lawyers and I just have a feeling that a lot of the stuff I'd pick to give her either won't be used or they won't like. Also, her party is at the G.C. country club, so I almost feel like it's a wedding- and we can't buy an inexpensive gift. I think a lot of the older ppl there will automatically give her $ or savings bonds, so we wanted to get her something for her to be used, rather than put in a bank account, or put away until it's mature... Any suggestions? TIA!

What is your budget if you don't mind me asking?
Also, toys could be difficult since she could have them already.
I say GC to Toysrus, GC or outfit from Hanna Henderson, Janie and Jack, etc....
ETA: can you find out if they have a toy/gift registry/wish list?

For a party at the GCCC - I think a gift cert for about $50 to a place like nordstroms, bloomingdales, L&T would be a great gift (or give what you can afford).
Or you could go to one of those stores if you know her size and get a dress or outfit from one of them (just make sure you give a gift receipt in case she doesn't like it or it doesn't fit).

Pottery Barn Kids has some adorable gifts for kids, and obviously they're a good quality name. And a lot of stuff you can get personalized, so that makes it even more special.
Some ideas from there:
My DD (15 months) would LOVE this for her babies
