Need to buy an extra car seat
For 3yo who weighs 33lbs about. I have only britax convertibles. But do I still need a convertible? Is there something else less expensive but just as safe I can buy? If so can you please advise brands? Thanks!

You can do a combination seat I think they're called. We have the Graco nautilus and really like it. Combination seats are only forward facing, start as 5pt harness and then convert to high back booster and backless booster.

Re: Need to buy an extra car seat
We just got a Britax combo (high back seat with 5-pt harness that will convert to booster with car belts eventually). I'm loyal to Britax, haven't loved other brands.

These combination seats are okay for a 3 year old?

Re: Need to buy an extra car seat
When DD was turning 4 we needed a new seat, so I got the britax frontier, which is a harness-to-booster seat. She's almost 5 and in the harness, but at some point, we'll use it as a high back booster.

A combination seat is perfectly fine for a 3 old in harness mode. Some affordably priced seats are the Graco Tranzitions, Evenflo Transitions (so confusing, lol) or the Graco Nautilus/Argos (although those are a bit wider so depending if there are other seats in the ack these may or may not be a good choice.)

We have the Frontier harness to booster for my 4 year old (got it when he was 3). It depends on their height, weight and shoulder height. Check out the Britax website under Fit Finder. You enter your child's measurements and it will show you the options.
