new born mommies-sleep ques

my ds is 7.5 weeks now and he is waking up every 2-2.5 hrs at night to eat about 2-3 oz (during the day he eats 4 oz every 2.5-3 hrs) . How long is your DC sleeping at night? the doctor made it sound like most babies are sleeping longer at this point.

I hope it happens soon bc this is really wearing on me

Re: new born mommies-sleep ques

DS is 5 weeks old and his sleep habits vary widely.... It depends whether or not he's in a growth spurt.

His latest painful spurt lasted almost 2 weeks Chat Icon. He would sleep at best for 2 hours at a shot at night, and was awake and feeding throughout most of the day! Each feeding lasted about an hour...

Now it is mercifully over Chat Icon He naps for about 3 hours in the afternoon, another 3 hours in the evening, and will sleep 4 hours at a spell at night. This is a much more comfortable schedule for me! he has never slept longer than 4 hours.......

Re: new born mommies-sleep ques

At 7.5 weeks she was sleeping about 6 hours. I always offered her 5 oz at night then. Now she's up to 7-8 hours at a clip after 6-7 oz of formula.

Re: new born mommies-sleep ques

DS is 8 weeks tomorrow. He eats about 4 - 4.5 oz at each feeding. He usually sleeps one time for about 4 hours and then the rest of the times are every 2.5-3 hours. He did have a few times of going to sleep for the whole night. I try to do a schedule with him (never works out like that but he usually is in bed by 10/11 and then sleeps till about 1 or 2 and then gets up around 4:30/5 and then around 7/8. I am going back to work next week so hopefully there will be some magical change overnight LOL

Re: new born mommies-sleep ques

DD is 8 weeks today...her first stretch at night is about 4 hours, then another 3-4 hour stretch. The other night she slept 5 hours without waking up.
We give her 3 1/2 oz at night

Re: new born mommies-sleep ques

DS is 6 1/2 weeks old and is sleeping for 3-4 hours at a time. At night we give him his last bottle around 7 - 7:30, put him down between 8-8:30 and he'll usually get up around 1:30 or 2. Another bottle and then get up again by 6 am. He was a preemie, so I am happy with his progress. I think he is doing well for a mere 7 lbs.

Re: new born mommies-sleep ques

DS is only 4 weeks and he is usually good for 3.5 to 4 hours at night. If he goes to sleep at 11:30, he won't usually wake until 3:30/4 and then again around 8:00. During the day he seems to want to eat much more frequently.
