Have any of you girls signed up for childbirth classes yet?

I won't be doing any typical childbirth classes. I've delivered 8 babies myself and know exactly what to expect. The only thing I've considered is maybe one of the hypno-birthing classes. One of my good friends is 5'2" and 90lbs soaking wet---she did this with both of her sons who were over 9lbs each and went completely natural and very quietly!!! It's definitely more of a "tree-hugging/yoga" type thing, but hey...if it works and I can remain drug-free, why not try it. The only caveat is that it costs over $400, so unless I find a job, it's not going to happen.

I am, however, going to see what I can find about BF'ing and possibly take a class on that (those are offered for free at the hospital where I am delivering). It seems like it can be much more difficult than it seems.

How cool! I have also delivered a few babies myself..... I am also loking into Hypno-birthing classes because I pretty much know everythign else already......

Keep looking around for different prices from different instructors. You can also buy the hypno birthing CDs and books online, maybe even used on amazon or ebay, and learn on your own....It shouldn't be that difficult!!!

hmmm....never thought of that! I'm going to check out amazon/ebay now. Jeesh, I'm NEVER going to get my homework done tonight! Chat Icon

I am not doing any birthing classes. I am having a scheduled c-section but I may take breastfeeding classes. We shall see. It's hard because I know I am delivering at the end of Jan and before Jan times are going to be crazy with the Holiday's. Who knows.

When will everyone start decorating the nursery? I went to Home Depot today to check out paint colors. I found the best pink everChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I just don't know if I am going to do the entire wall or just half. I will post pics tonight of the sampling I didChat Icon

Next week we want to start and check out new carpet.Chat Icon

Re: NEW February Mommies to be Thread!!

Welcome organichic!

5ofClubs - My brother and BIL are going to do the nursery for us. Probably not until Nov/Dec. I'm contemplating a pink/brown, or a pinkish/greenish color scheme. I have a very pretty area rug that has like a mauvy pink and a very subtle green that is a really nice combination. I'm thinking of doing a Shabby Chic style.

I am not bringing any baby related items though into the house until after the baby is born.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Unfortunately, because of my current work situation (or lack there of), I'm going to be stuck in my teeny tiny itty bitty one-bedroom for the time being (IF I can somehow hang on to it!)....so, no nursery for me. I'm really down and depressed about not being able to put together a cute little room with a crib and decorations, but I'm sure my baby boy will survive without a separate room for now. I think I'm just going to get a co-sleeper for my bedroom and maybe a PNP to squish into the living room somewhere (that's about ALL that will fit). I have to completely re-arrange my bedroom to make room somehow for the sleeper. And, I'm going to have to throw out some more clothes so that I can have a dresser for baby clothes. I have a half of a closet available in the living room, so that should also help. I have no idea where I might put a swing or bouncy seat---so THAT should be interesting!!! But, I've seen families that have raised FIVE kids in a one bedroom place, so I know it's not going to kill anybody. But, my goal is to have a job sometime between now and hopefully before the baby is 4/5months and move into a bigger place. Ah....wishful thinking! Chat Icon

Re: NEW February Mommies to be Thread!!

So, I had to go back today for another sono so they can get the proper measurements on the baby's heart. Everything looks good! So relieved! (I'm always so nervous before a sono).

Although I figured out why I haven't felt her moving around yet.... she doesn't like to be disturbed! She's lazy, just like her mama! Chat Icon Chat Icon no matter how many times the sono tech jiggled my belly, she didn't want to move. She had herself cramped up into a corner. She was like that too during my Level II 2 weeks ago. She also spent a good deal of time with her hand covering her face as if to say "enough of the pictures already!" Again... just like her mama! Chat Icon

I am so happy things look well.

My baby is lazy too. She was face down with her legs crossed and the Dr said sorry we can't tell what it is. I started crying.

I said listen let me get up and jump around and see if that helps. Finally was able to flip her and then we could see. I probably gave the poor little thing a heart attackChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: NEW February Mommies to be Thread!!

hi everyone! happy monday!

Welcome to the new mommies!!!

For the sunday brunch, did we decide on a day??

I'm feeling good- cant wait until Thursday- Level II and we find out the sex. my mom is convinced it is a boy !! We'll see..she has all these old wives tales and she is convinced..

i have been having a lot of lower back pain this past week. I have to ask the dr about it when I see her..

otherwise, feeling great. little bit more energy- Did a TON of cleaning yesterday, too much. and i put away my 'non maternity' clothes.. that was very depressing. I really hope I fit into them again sometime soon!

And, I'm going to be an Aunt on Sunday! Cannot wait! Also waiting for my very close friend to deliver- she is ready to pop any second..

Just got back from my OB appointment. I will be 21 weeks on ThursdayChat Icon

I am still down 2lbs thank goodness. I don't get it though. I look huge but haven't gained anything. So weird. My BP is low and no protein. And my blood tests came back good.

Now I am just waiting for my Level II results.

Yesterday at 20 weeks, I was up 9lbs! Chat Icon I was plus sized to begin with, and just hoping I don't gain too much weight!

Let's see a picture of that bump! Chat Icon

I think I am up 11 pounds or so - I meant to ask last night where I started (on doctor's scale).

Level II is next week - I can't wait to go and hear that everything is ok.

I am in for November 9th too. Chat Icon

17 weeks here and last check I was still down 1lb.

Baby kicks are getting stronger everyday... hunger is coming back a bit...

Nothing much really going on...

Leaning toward not finding out at my level II... and maybe even not at all... but really starting to feel it's a boy.

I stopped weighing myself weeks ago! haha. At my monthly visits I get the update. Chat Icon However I don't feel like I'm gaining that much weight, but who knows. Good Luck on your sono tomorrow! Are you planning on finding out the sex?

Novemeber 9th sounds good to me! I have no idea where Hemmingways is but that's fine, I'm not really familiar with Nassau.
