Re: New moms & weight loss motivation
I would like to join please!!! I gained 50 lbs with my pregnancy and now, almost 8 weeks after delivery, I have another 25 lbs to go. I breast feed and pump, I try to eat well, I do drink plenty of water, but I have no motivation to exercise at all. I am just so darn tired all the time and to top it off, I start work on Monday again and won't be getting home till nearly 8 pm every night after picking up my from my mom's house. My only saving grace will be rejoining Weight Watchers. I was a member before I got pregnant and plan to sign up again this coming weekend. I need the structure and accountability of the program. And I find it easy to follow - especially when I am at work since I can pack the food I will need for the day and bring to the office with me - it's harder for me to "cheat."
Can anyone suggest a quick DVD that I can do in the evenings to target my lower body - thighs, butt, hips and belly? even though my stomach looks pretty good, it's a little "flabby."
I can really use the support from you ladies and would love to share tips and ideas that have worked for you guys. Should we start a new mom weight loss thread for us that we can check in on and record our progress? I am so excited for this post!!! I can't wait to fit into my summer clothes I can't afford to buy a new wardrobe and I refuse to buy bigger sizes

Re: New moms & weight loss motivation
sorry to crash but i wanted to tell you ladies that i think it's wonderful that you are all giving each other such great support and motivation!
i am only 21 weeks PG, but i just finished reading in one of my (many lol) pregnancy books that your stomach muscles separate when your belly grows, and leaves a kind of gap in the middle, so it might take some time before they move back together - which is why, i suspect, so many women have that flabby belly pooch they can't get rid of for a while after they have the baby. it's not that the crunches won't work, it's that the stomach muscles have to be in their proper place!
lots of luck to you all - i will be joining you later this year!

Thanks for the info! I heard that on the Discovery channel just last week. It's just frustrating that you go through pregnancy, deliver a beautiful baby, and you hope to get your body back... and it takes longer than youthink for some people. Can't wait to have you over here soon!!!! I HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO HAVE A HEALTHY PREGNANCY!!!

When were you thinking about going back? I went on the WW site and they recommend 6 weeks post pregnancy. Will you wait that long?

What I really want to find are good exercises for toning stomach muscles that got stretched and flabby from pregnancy...any ideas moms?
Pilates is awesome for this! Pop in a dvd for 20 minutes 3-4 times a week and you will notice a difference in 3 weeks if you do the workouts to the best of your ability. I did this prior to pregnacncy and my body was amazing from it.
Can you recommend a good DVD?? I would love to order one. I have done yoga in the past but never tried pilates.
I like "Pilates complete for Weightloss" because there are lots of quick routines to choose from.
I also like Winsor Pilates using the sculpting circle. The sculpting circle would help me with proper technique.
I would switch back and forth so I would not get bored. I think I got the Winsor one in a package on the Winsor website, and the Pilates complete from target, but I think Amazon has it.
I hope I can start back up on Monday!!
Great! Thanks!
