New problem...cervix! *UPDATE
All along my cervix was great now this week at 24 1/2 weeks they found my cervix went from 38 two weeks ago to 32 this week. Now I am back to being monitored every week and if its not any better on Thursday they are going to put me on 7 days of indomethacin and if that doesnt do it I will have a cerclage I am not happy about this at all! Really rather scared actually! Especially since I will be getting it done around 27 weeks if I need it and I know my DR said 28wks is the cut off. They also found that my pubic bone is wide open and that is where all this excruciating pain is coming from I swear as soon as one thing starts looking better another thing goes wrong! very frustrating!
Okay well I'm back and my cervix is shorter still. It got a little shorter since last Thursday so I start the indomethacin right away. Although Dr Nguyen does NOT think it is going to help, and told me to prepare myself mentally for the surgery cause he truly feels that is the best thing for me or better yet these babies right now. I HATE HOSPITALS!!! Hopefully this medication doesnt make me sick in the meantime

Re: New problem...cervix!
Honestly, you are in the absolute best hands with Dr. Kofinas. Ask him about his statistics. I believe he has only lost three babies and all of them were due to umbilical cord problems. He should have something like 600 losses for the number of babies he has monitored. He is really a miracle worker.

Re: New problem...cervix!
They told me at 17 weeks I was in danger for needing a cerclage. But somehow I dodged it and my cervix lengthened on its own.
Hang in there. It sounds like your doctors are just looking out for your best interest. I know there have been lots of pregnant woman (singles and multiples) who have had this procedure done. From what I have read the procedure is fairly simple and very successful.
Wishing the best for you and your little ones.

I have talked to him about that in the past and yes he told me 3 only 3 babies lost and those were due to cord accidents nothing he could control. I am not worried about that so much cause I honestly LOVE that man and know if it weren't for him my would not even be alive right now! I trust that man whole heartedly with my life. I just am afraid of more pain for one thing. This pubic thing is the worst pain I think I have ever experienced in life (and I gave birth to my son 8lb 1oz with NO DRUGS at all...lol and I was tiny then. 5'4" 120lbs) But I am honestly in soooo much pain now already and I absolutely DESPISE hospitals to begin with so having to go into the hospital an extra time is going to kill me just to start with. Then the pain I know I am going to have from the cerclage makes me even more anxious! I am a nervous wreck with this pregnancy to begin with
AND to top things off he is in Greece again for the next 2 weeks

my cervical issues had me on bedrest from week 13 until week 35 when i delivered my twins...it was an absolute nightmare! but i am telling you the honest truth - the cerclage was not bad at all!!!! i was petrified about getting it done, but it was so much easier than anything i could have imagined.
good luck and please feel free to FM me if you have any questions!!

Hey I had a similar experience as u. The only difference is that i was not put on the meds because it doesn't help elongate the cervix it only helps to prevent contractions. my doctors monitored me for a couple of weeks and decided to move forward with the cerclage b4 i missed the cut off point. 20-21 weeks. I had it done at 19 weeks5 days. To be honest with u the procedure was fine. i didn't feel a thing and the healing process for me was overnight. that day i had some cramping and the next day i was almost 100%. It was the best thing I did. I feel like the babies are secure in there now and it def gave me more peace of mind. I was VERY nervous b4 getting it done but now that its done.. im happy that i went through with it.
good luck!!!
