At my internship I had clients who are in recovery and have remained sober. First step is admitting they have an addiction. I hope it continues to get better
Just wanted to update you. After a rollercoaster weekend he agreed finally he will get help.
We will be taking him tonight.
Keep your fingers crossed they take him
****************************** Updated: we're sitting in the er. this sucks big time. hes not going to be seen until the dr comes in tomorrow mroning and its not even definite they will take him. so im sitting here waiting...
keep your fingers crossed they take him
He's getting real nasty. Hes withdrawing already.
and he drank before he came in today..
This is the time he will need more support than ever and no matter how bad it seems, its a lot worse for him. He'll probably say he can do it on his own, but in reality we know that isn't an option. stay strong and tough.
Good Luck. I just went through the detox process with a loved one and it awful. It took us three visits to the ER until they admitted him. They said he wasn't sick enough.. THen they discharged him (to home... not a rehab.. home) the next day. It is a very frustrating system and there is not as much support out there as you think. They really leave it up to you to do everything.
