New York Housewives Countess LuAnn & Husband Separate
Countess LuAnn de Lesseps can no longer count on her Count.
The Real Housewives of New York City star and her husband, Count Alex de Lesseps, have separated, PEOPLE.com confirms.
“It is obviously a very difficult time for the Countess and Count,” a rep for LuAnn says in a statement, “but they plan to remain friends and their primary focus will be to do what is best for their two children.”
At this time no legal separation has been filed. But according to the New York Post, which first broke the story, LuAnn discovered that her husband, who spends much of his time in Europe, was seeing another woman.
“LuAnn was blindsided. She was just devastated,” a friend of LuAnn’s told the Post’s Page Six.
The couple, whose two children, Victoria and Noel, are also seen on the hit Bravo TV show, just celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on March 16.
The Countess, who prides herself on being an etiquette expert, has a book, Class with the Countess, due in stores in April.
Could a split mean she will lose her coveted title?

I know that really has to suck, but I really can't stand her on the show. Her husband (the count) is never there anyway. Couldn't of been a healthy relationship.
I do feel bad for her and the kids and hopefully the Countess will tone down the miss prim and proper routine a bit.

No matter how she acts on TV no one deserves to be cheated on, the fact that she was blindsided by the affair has got to be so hard for her.
Her husband traveled a lot because of his families business, she was trusting of him, and he totally broke that trust.

Her husband traveled a lot because of his families business, she was trusting of him, and he totally broke that trust.

You're right. She's like his fourth wife, and combined with the separte lives they seemed to lead and her overzealousness about being "the countess" and not always so much about him, it's nothing you'd wish on her, but it's not exactly shocking.
We don't know the specifics of her case, but some people DO marry for power/status/money, and in those cases, one often doesn't get love, loyalty, and stability.

I agree, however, I remember hearing he had many wives before her... she's at least number 4 or 5.
Yeah, there are always two sides (sometimes three) to every story but with that many previous marriages, wouldn't she have wondered if he was truly capable of a long-term marriage
I guess the "title" got to her.

She can supposedly take a different rendition of the countess name.
Instead of Countess LuAnn de Leseppes (sp) she would be LuAnn Countess de Leseppes... that is how they distinguish between current and former wives.

I feel bad for the kids, but I felt bad for them before this anyway.
I am surprised everyone is so shocked-he is never ever around. The only time she seems to mention him is when she is mentioning her title.

I do feel bad for the kids, with that being said MAYBE if she acted more like a MOTHER and a wife instead of a social butterfly she could of gotten a handle on this before it blew up in her face!
