Newborn - formula/gas question
DD is 2 weeks and she has ALOT of gas. She toots ALL the time and belches like a truck driver. I am not too concerned because at least it's coming out and she doesn't have any trouble eating or sleeping but I was just hoping to compare.
Anyone else who is supplementing with formula have a VERY gassy baby? I use Enfamil Premium.

Re: Newborn - formula/gas question
Most babies are gassy until about 9-12 weeks due to immature guts. It goes away as baby matures. I often find that Gentlease helps during this transition b/c it is a reduced lactose formula (which helps decrease gas from lactose overload) but still provides some lactose to keep the enzyme lactase working in babies gut. The proteins are also partially hydrolyzed to help make the formula easy to digest. Othewise you can try mylicon drops and being a burping fanatic....but it does go away.
HTH!
