Newborn head shape is this normal?

I took my DS to his 1st month check up and a new doctor in the practice who's is new and very young saw DS ( I usually see the dr who own the practice) anyway she was feeling my baby's head and she said if he had this shape head since birth. To explain better my son's head shape looks perfectly round but if you feel it his head shape from the back ear to ear his head sticks out a bit more then the his head shape on top, above it. You can't tell by looking at him again you can only tell when you feel his head. So I kind of paused when she asked because to be honest I didn't think anything about his head shape at all. I mean I know not all newbors have perfectly round shaped heads.

Anyway we went on to other things and in the end I brough up his head shape again and I asked her what I should look for since she brought it up and she kind of cut me off and said "you know I didn't even want to mention it because it really is nothing to worry about and just forget I mentioned it".

I am a nervouse person to begin with and I smiled and said okay but ever since the appointment I've been feeling my sons head constantly now Chat Icon I never even knew it was mishaped that's how hard it is to really tell but since she brought it up it kind of bothers me. Now his 2nd month check up is with the senior dr the one that owns the practice. I'm goign to ask him what he thinks too.

Does your child have a perfectly shaped head? Not every newborn has a perfect shaped head right? - and I don't mean from natural birth or molding, I had a c section so this is not from molding or DS's head being pressed.

Edit to add: she even said we'll keep an eye on it. This is what really bothers me because if she said its nothing then why did she say that. It's not a lump it's his skull. She got me fraking out now Chat Icon

Also the senior doctor saw him 4 times in the hospital and once in his office when he was 2 weeks old and he never said anything about his head shape.

Re: Newborn head shape is this normal?

DS has an isse with flat headedness-- at 4 months old he needed to see a pediatric neurologist and sept 9th we find out if it got better or if he needs to wear a helmet to correct it

your baby is young and the brain is growing at a rapid pace. try to position him so that all sides are used

you have time!!!
