Newborn Moms-- when do you change DC's diaper?
Before or after feedings?
Just wondering what people do...
Before, and Sasha usually gets a little crazy and can sometimes be squirmy cause she wants to eat.
After, and she spits up then gets hiccups.
ETA-- I usually change her before, but love it when she is full and is much more calm-- so much easier!

I usually change him after. Sometimes he falls asleep in the middle of feeding so I change him to wake him up so he can finish.

Re: Newborn Moms-- when do you change DC's diaper?
I tended to change him when he would wake up from sleeping, which was usually before a feeding.
My rationale was that I didn't want him to sit in a wet diaper while he was eating, and often he would fall asleep again right after he ate or was burped and he had a dry diaper on already.

This is what I did as well---so before a feeding

After, he is usually so upset because he's hungry that I wait till he's calmer. Plus, he's peed on himself, me, the couch, bed, anytime i've done it beforehand because he's all worked up.

Re: Newborn Moms-- when do you change DC's diaper?
I ususally changed before because DD was a sleepy newborn and I wanted to wake her up more so that she would stay awake and nurse. Often, I would end up having to change her after too because those BM poops are frequent! I used a lot of diapers!

Re: Newborn Moms-- when do you change DC's diaper?
I actually change DS in between boobs
This works out well, especially at night. Otherwise he would fall asleep at one boob, and then wake up an hour later for the other, and I got no sleep. So changing wakes him up a lil bit, enough to take the other boob and then sleep for 3 hours Plus, if he gets the hiccups from lying down, they go away when I feed him.

I tend to do this too at night. During the day, I usually change him after I feed him. DS tends to poop while I nurse him.

Re: Newborn Moms-- when do you change DC's diaper?
I always changed Emerson right before her bottle and I continue to do so. I like having her all cleaned and changed prior to eating so if she falls asleep after I don't have to wake her and she doesn't have to sit in a dirty diaper.

ditto. It depends, at night, we change before, but during the day, he tends to do #2 after a feeding so then we do it after.

That's what I do, too. It's the only way I can make sure she gets a full feeding!
