Ok, here's my strange answer. Would I do it myself? No. Would I totally love that someone else did it so that I knew what to get their child? Yes! So go figure. I wouldn't make one, but I'd be glad to use one!
Same for me. People always ask me what they need and my answer is always clothes for the up coming season. For some reason I rather buy the toys

9 out of ten someone will ask so have a list ready..if not you can return it...Immed family I was able to tell point blank can they give money towards a swingset.
It will work out--I dk about the registry thing...

I personally would NOT do one. I think for a bridal and baby shower is enough.

I'm using wishlist.com and just telling my mom and MIL about it.
They will spread the word because the family is more likely to ask them than me.
My biggest issue is that people buy him clothes for the size he should be rather than the size he is.
They get me 12 month things, which he's grown out of already!!
