No Kids Allowed on Cruises!!
So we booked our cruise for the end of September and as we’re finishing the call we ask about vaccinations…. Cruises are vaccination only- meaning children aren’t allowed on the cruise! Sooooo we put a deposit down which is refundable up until August just in case rules change but I don’t think so. We can also push the cruise to November but we’re cruising out of NY and the weather gets chancy. So we’re thinking of maybe flying and doing an all inclusive and putting the cruise on hold. Any recommendations for an all inclusive that’s good for kids?

I don’t think Disney Cruises has announced yet when they are sailing if I am correct. RCCL out of FL is not requiring anyone to be vaccinated.

Re: No Kids Allowed on Cruises!!
Kids can (and have) been vaccinated. So it's not really "no kids". Isn't the vaccination age 12?

Yes , but there are plenty of people who cruise with children under 12. Under 12 would be the ideal age for a Disney cruise for example.

Re: No Kids Allowed on Cruises!!
As of 6/15 for Disney:
These measures include:
COVID-19 Vaccination: In order to sail, Guests 18 years of age and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the National Health Service (NHS). The NHS currently defines “fully vaccinated” as 7 days after the final dose. For questions regarding special accommodations to our vaccination policy, please contact us at [email protected] at least 15 days prior to your sail date. To learn more about how to provide proof of your vaccination, please visit Before Leaving Home: Know Before You Go. Pre-Trip COVID-19 Testing: Guests under 18 years of age are not required to be vaccinated, but must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result (paid for by the Guest) taken between 5 days and 24 hours prior to the date you set sail. Disney Cruise Line has secured a special discounted rate through a third-party vendor for PCR tests. Guests may obtain their PCR test from the third-party vendor or any testing supplier. To learn more about how to provide proof of your negative COVID-19 PCR test result, please visit Before Leaving Home: Know Before You Go.
11 and over are required to wear masks

This sounds a lot more reasonable

I don’t follow all the lines but not sure when they plan to start cruising. I know RCCL has and hoping they keep their no vaccinations out of other ports and list the mask by next summer.

Re: No Kids Allowed on Cruises!!
Yes, we were planning on cruising NCL out of NY and staying in Bermuda 3 days at port. We’ve always cruised Norwegian and loved it. I don’t really want to fly to FL and cruise out of there with 2 kids- for that I’d rather just fly to my destination… the whole appeal of cruising for me is driving down to the pier and already being on vacay, ya know? I’m all for vaccines and I understand companies (especially cruises which are germ factories at the best of times) wanting to keep everyone safe but my kids are 2 and 5 so there’s no way they could have the vaccine. And they didn’t tell us any of this until after we put down our deposit! I mean granted it’s refundable but we got excited about it and got a great deal so it’s a real bummer to think we can’t go now. I mean we COULD leave the kids I guess but the point was to take a family vacation… argh!

Cruises aren’t really for me anyway and the one cruise I went on was one of those lines that usually caters to adults. I chose that one for a reason.

Usually after the first day, you rarely see kids as they are in the kids clubs. Heck, some cruises I barely saw my own kids lol.

I'm sure they would still fill the boat. I've never understood the adult obsession with Disney. I can't imagine a worse honeymoon but it seems like a lot of couples do it. Such an odd choice to me!

I have a friend who chose Disney as the place to go with her DH on their 20th anniversary trip. Just the 2 of them. They even got a photo with Winnie the Pooh for the occasion.

TBH I said the same thing!! I told DH I didn't think a cruise was the right vacation with kids (2 y/o is too young even for the kids club!) but he was insistent. A cruise full of completely vaccinated adults and NO kids sounds like the dream to me! But a week is a long time to be away from the kids, especially since it's shortly after my DD has started Kindergarten in a new school. We're thinking of maybe doing an all inclusive for a few days without the kids now.
We really need a vacation... it's been a tough year and half. I don't know if anyone had seen but I recently had a surprise pregnancy which I lost at 8 weeks. I think DH is trying to distract me with vacation planning because it really hit me hard, still is. I also lost my grandmother to Covid and my father to cancer in 2020. It's been a lot of sh!t all at once. I could use a win.

So sorry for all your losses. You should take some time away with you and you’re DH. I think you need some R&R, beach, sun and a cocktail. I recommend Aruba, DR or Mexico for all inclusive.

Thanks- we were looking at Aruba and Curacao. We've also done Jamaica in the past and loved it, but not sure about their Covid protocols. I know Aruba and Curacao are allowing people to come in.

My friend was just in Aruba last month and they do require a PCR before entry and before leaving to come home. The hotel did the PCR required to return right there though. Not sure if being vaccinated will circumvent that rule though

We did a 4 day “Disney” cruise as it wasn’t the Disney cruise line back then/3 day Disney world for our honeymoon. It was great as back then everything was more lax and no time restraints. I probably wouldn’t go on a Disney cruise now with just the hubby as there is no casino and since it is geared towards kids, they won’t be in the kids clubs as much and I assume running around screaming all day and night lol.
