I saw a sign months ago that said “Your compliance is prolonging this nightmare”. It really stuck with me. If we all stopped wearing masks, it would end. So I stopped wearing it. I live in Texas, so I wasn’t accosted in the store because the people here believe in freedom more than NYer’s. Then the governor lifted the mask mandate and many people still wear masks. But everyday, more and more people are going without them. So I guess I’m one of those “maskholes” who doesn’t follow the rules. The stores don’t have to enforce anything they don’t want to. They can ignore it if they want. And before you accuse me of not “following the science”, no one has gotten Covid from walking past someone in the supermarket for five seconds. The mask mandate was dumb from the start.

So we just don’t care about the store employees that have 800 strangers breathing and coughing in their faces on a daily basis for an 8 hour shift?
But no...wearing a mask is selfish

Freedom now relates to not having to wear a mask? Chat Icon

Pretty sure here stores don’t have a choice if they don’t want to be fine loses licenses etc.

I wouldn’t call you a maskholes has you put it lol just for not wearing it. I would call you one if you were asked to put it on in a store and instead of just doing it or leaving you started a huge fight about it. Because that’s wrong and disrespectful especially in NY where it’s required!

I can’t get over the amount of people who think they don’t need a mask now. While agree it’s time to remove the masks for those who want to, it’s not approved in NY!! And even if it is, it’s still up to a business if they choose to. People are all over social media calling out businesses (many small businesses) about not be allowed in without a mask.

It is ridiculous!! This is my point. Im sick of everyone saying just don’t wear masks anymore! No it doesn’t work that way. This is coming from someone who doesn’t want to wear one but will respect the rules that are in place!!

CT just announced in 3 days they will be lifting their mask mandate. NY still in talks, NJ not ready.

But the mandate is only lifting for those who are vaccinated. That's everyone's point. There is no way to tell who is and who isn't, so just still have the mask mandate in place until a certain percentage of the population is vaccinated, then lift the mandate for everyone, not just vaccinated people. CT following this is so dumb.

I think 18 states are lifting it, just not CT. I don’t think they can ask either so it will basically be anyone that wants to not want to wear a mask.

If that employee was wearing "the all mighty mask" wouldn't they feel protected in this case?

I think the essentials were the ones who didn’t get sick. It was the ones who say they saw no one and went out and got Covid. Makes NO sense.

If we’re going to talk “science” at this point, then the concerned can wear N95s until they’re ready, then they’ll be protecting themselves from those who choose not to wear a mask. Vaccinated or not. Simple solution made 50 zillion times harder by the root of all evil, politics.

Masks are most effective when both parties are wearing a mask. Your mask protects the workers if you are sick.

People do cough, breath, and scream at retail workers. Essential retail workers did get sick and die. My dad who works in retail lost 2 coworkers due to covid. Dozens more contracted it. My mom who also works in retail had a coworker who was young and healthy and was hospitalized for a month.

My parents are now vaccinated but both hope that their employers continue to require masks as they want a higher percentage of people vaccinated.

Every store will have people who get sick and could possibly die. The point is that these people were working with many many people all day long mostly and their was not a huge spike everywhere because of it.
Funny how people say masks work but some of the people I know who got Covid were the ones who wore masks and didn’t see family or friends. I am sure they work for the most part as many have been wearing them for years but overall with this virus, it didn’t stop it fully.

I honestly can't with you. Masks do work. The people I mentioned actually contracted it early on in the pandemic. These people were the people who were providing you with food and other goods during this time. They were not sheltered in their homes.

The only people I know who got it were out and about either working or gathering with friends and family. They weren't sheltering in their house.

But if you look around, people are constantly blaming ones who don’t wear masks for spreading Covid. I have heard stories of people who never left their house, e.ver, getting Covid. How is that even possible if it is not supposed to stay on items that might be delivered to their home?

Not sure how you shop, but I don’t “breathe” or “cough” in anyone’s face.

If that employee was wearing "the all mighty mask" wouldn't they feel protected in this case?

Ahh ok. I know ones that weren’t gathering so in those situations the mask did not fully work.

Nobody EVER said masks were 100% nor was there EVER an expectation that they would fully stop the spread of COVID. Chat Icon Chat Icon

But if you look around, people are constantly blaming ones who don’t wear masks for spreading Covid. I have heard stories of people who never left their house, e.ver, getting Covid. How is that even possible if it is not supposed to stay on items that might be delivered to their home?

People who have refused to wear masks are usually the same ones who didn't want to social distance or follow any safety measures from the beginning. Hence, those types are definitely the ones who help to spread the virus.

You do know that there is literally no way to catch COVID if you have truly and 100% NEVER left your home or interacted with others, right? You just say these types of things to further your argument but it's simply not true. Viruses need a host and some medium to spread, you aren't getting COVID from your box of Oreos that you bought off Amazon.

I am aware of that but there are stories out there about it people who claim they never left their homes. I have a family member who got Covid. Was masked everywhere they went, work, store. Never got together with friends and family. Claim their spouse didn’t come in contact with people at work and kids wore masks at school.
How can you get sick when you are wearing a mask each and every time you are near people?

How was there an outbreak at your husbands job if when they were at the job, people were always masked?

If you're at work, you're interacting with others. You said you "heard stories" of people getting COVID who NEVER left their house, if you're NEVER leaving your house or interacting with others then you're NOT getting Covid. Period. If you go into the world in ANY capacity, you risk getting sick.

As it's been pointed out to you hundreds of times now, masks are not 100%. They work, they aren't perfect.

Aren’t you interacting with others at work while masked?

Believe me, I can’t believe these stories either. If I find one I will show it to you. They are out there though.

No more masks for vaccinated people..... Indoors and outdoors

Masks need to go for everyone. I posted on the politics board.

We don’t know if those who were vaccinated in December and January currently have antibodies. There apparently is no test for the public to find out if they are covered. So they could all be walking around and contract Covid and get it pretty bad. And we all know that even vaccinated people can spread Covid. With the infection rate so low it’s time to phase into some normalcy for everyone who wants to remove their mask. From what I hear a lot of people will continue to wear masks anyways. But let people decide what they are comfortable doing.
