Thank you for posting what I was thinking! I have no idea how anyone in NY can have gone through the college process, whether themselves or for their children and have no idea that there are private schools and public schools. It's so basic and I would think virtually impossible to not know, if you've actually been involved in the process in any way at all
My 1 child has been in private and public and yes I know the difference. I never said to be vaccinated they would need it for an in state school.

I did hear this morning that Disney hinted about going to no masks.
Really? That’d be great! We were planning to go again next year but if they won’t require masks anymore, we might go earlier!
FL is open anyway, so I guess they will be next.
I hope cause when we went this past Feb, they were so strict! Like u couldn’t even walk WHILE eating without a mask.

So do we have to show our papers everywhere we go. It sounds very familiar to a time in history that this was mandatory thing. I know i see it.
Glad you do as others seem to be ignoring this.
This is one of the most offensive things I've ever seen on this site. The long term goals of this situation vs what you're referring to are completely opposite.
You want to compare it to something, compare it to needing to carry a driver's license to operate a vehicle. You need a license bc getting behind the wheel of a car without a license can affect the health of people around you.
So your ok with the government obviously gaining more and more control in everything you do? I'm certaintly not blind too the agenda behind it all

Please explain what the agenda is and while you're at it, can you explain to me in what way the government is gaining more and more control of what I do bc I don't find that to be the case at all.

The difference is, if you're not vaccinated nobody is sending you to your death in a concentration camp.

So do they expect you to eat with a mask on? Maybe puree your food and cut a hole in the mask to insert a straw? Disney is a customer of mine and this doesn't surprise me one bit. They'll be making you walk around in masks for the next 3 years, just watch.

Didn’t u start this thread?
Not to b!tch about masks but to be excited that the mandates/recommendations are changing. I'm sure you realize that and are just trying to . I didn't post and ask how anyone feels about masking, I posted to share the good news.
U really didn’t expect people with opposing views to chime in with their own comments? Not everyone in this forum have the same type of mentality so of course it’s predictable that comments with different POVs will be exchanged.
Actually, I thought maybe this forum was finally past the ridiculousness of arguing over wearing masks over a year into the mandate and would just be excited to hear the news that they will soon go away. Silly me, this is LIF where people will continue to .
But they aren't going away. The CDC has zero power. THey are a waste when it comes to making statements. They said we couldn't celebrate Thanksgiving. Yeah ok. When Cuomo says no more masks- that's the day I'll celebrate. Probably next year- or 2023

The CDC says on a cruise you have to leave a mask on in between bites and sips. Are they insane? I will say that I have a sucking problem and I have to leave a straw in my mouth at all times lololol.

They'll probably expect you to have a mask on while taking a shit in the privacy of your own state room, while sleeping and while showering Ridiculous. Wait until they all go under because nobody is going to cruise with that kind of nonsense.

The policy as of recently (unless something changed this week or something) was that if you want to consume food or drink you need to be sitting.
Common sense exceptions are made for things like a sip of water while in line.
When you think about it, they had no choice because otherwise plenty of people would just make sure they were carrying food or drink and walk around all day without a mask. So they had to go stricter to close that loophole.
And yes, I know the virus doesn't easily spread outside and yes, I walk/jog down my own street and drink water maskless with regularity but it's a theme park and some sections can get very, very crowded. They have to do what they have to do.
It's probably worth revisiting the policy to see if it can be relaxed as we're making progress now.

Ewwwww masks in a bathroom is just disgusting! Seriously!
But yes, when we went to Disney, they pretty much said we had to eat seating/standing somewhere and one employee even suggested exactly what u said Nell...if u wanna eat while walking somewhere, u can lower ur mask, take a bite, and then put it back up while chewing.

Re: No more masks for vaccinated people..... Indoors and outdoors
I don't really understand why they would remove the mask mandate now. Wearing a mask is not a big deal and until we are at numbers that are extremely low, why not just continue to wear them? Putting a bunch of vaccinated adults in an arena with a bunch of unvaccinated kids also makes absolutely no sense. Also, the efficacy of the J&J vaccine is less than 70% That means more than 3/10 people will still get covid if exposed. Yes, they will probably have little to no symptoms, but they will still be able to spread it to unvaccinated people (some of whom can not be vaccinated due to medical conditions). What is the big deal with just wearing a mask while indoors for the remainder of the year? I can understand not wanting to wear it in 90 degree heat while standing online at disney, and I never really thought outdoor masks made much sense. But in places like the mall or grocery store, everyone should still wear a mask.

I am willing to bet Cuomo will leave the mandates for a while. End of year at least. And if he were to lift them the majority of private businesses will still require them. Once again the CDC makes a big announcement that means jack shit. And the way people were acting today on social media (and my SIL who texted my DH at the crack of dawn this morning telling him to look at the news! There was NEW GUIDANCE!) , I really think they thought they would be able to take their mask off and stroll through Target this afternoon.

We have a small business in Nassau county and will continue to wear masks in our store as well as limit the amount of people inside at a time.
Not all of my staff are vaccinated, though even if they were, I know you can still get it vaccinated or not.
I will continue to wear my mask anywhere I am indoors with strangers for quite some time.

The governor of Maryland said once 70% of adults are fully vaccinated, he will fully lift all mask mandates. My guess is the tri state area will do something similar...we are at 60% here in NY so it shouldn't be too much longer until we hit that.
That makes more sense. You can't police who is vaccinated and who is not in public.
This does make sense but do we really think Cuomo is going to lift ours anytime soon???!!!
I do believe however now that the CDC says it if the local government lifts the masks rule I feel like retail stores will probably not enforce masks anymore. I feel like retail stores are following what the CDC says because they believe some governors don’t really believe in what’s going on. But that’s just my opinion.
Like I predicted Walmart has lifted mask requirements for those that are vaccinated basically in any state that has gotten rid of their mask mandate

So how do they enforce this? Ask you to show proof at the door? OK let's say they do- even though that would cause a huge back up getting in- especially on a busy weekend or Holiday season- but let's assume that. The Walmart greeter is now promoted to the mask police. Checks your vaccine proof or lack thereof and off you go. Then you get into the store. You aren't vaccinated so you have to wear your mask. You get down aisle 7 and whip that bad boy off like your bra at the end of a long day. Who's going to stop you?

No more masks for vaccinated people..... Indoors and outdoors
Wasn't there just an article about several players on the Yankees who were all vaccinated but still got COVID? I am still trying to understand the logic behind getting rid of masks if both vaccinated and unvaccinatrd can still get it?

Because. NOTHING MAKES SENSE. Down is up and up is down. This year has had way more effects than just the physical ones of the virus. It has eroded all logical thought and common sense.

I have to reread the article but I think it said Walmart didn’t make it clear how they would but my guess is it will be the honor system.
