Noisy Doors - paint related.
Ever since we painted last summer, our doors make so much noise when we open and close them. To the point where I wake up when one is opened.
How do I fix this? sand down the edges?
TIA!

Re: Noisy Doors - paint related.
Is it when they are just opened and closed (when the door is touching the jambs)?, or during the whole time the door is swinging?
If it's during the entire movement, that's pretty easy. You just need some lubricant in the hinges. Any sort of oil, lubricant spray, WD-40, etc will work.
If it's when the door is rubbing against the door jambs, you're going to have to sand down either the door or the door frame to give it enough room to open and close. You should be able to easily slide a credit card between the door and the frame when it's closed. If not, that's where you need to sand. After you sand, make sure you don't put too much paint back on, otherwise you'll be back to where you were before...
Keep in mind that wooden doors swell in the heat and humidity, so if the door is OK in winter, but not in summer, it's because it is swelling, and needs to be sanded.

Thanks! It's just when they are opened and closed.
