ugh, absolutely RIDICULOUS. I fear this is a slippery slope of government involvement in things they should NOT get involved in.

LOL, that's exactly what I was thinking. What's in N. Dakota any way?

I think the Badlands. I can never remember what they are, but it always made me laugh in school when they were mentioned. What a stupid name.
And I think Fargo is in ND. Which is appropriate since this bill makes me want to hurl.

Wouldn't a law like this make contaception like an IUD illegal?

If I'm reading the article correctly then no, because IUDs don't allow fertilization to occur.

I think the law is definitely on a "slippery slope" I feel like Plan B, IUD, and anything else could be included in this "BAN"
This is the most serious piece of legislature I have seen in a long time...

Re: North Dakota passes Abortion Ban...
I think this is going to cause all kinds of complications. For instance, if it it passes, and a mother's life is in danger- what- will there be a hearing to determine who to save? Or if the baby won't be ablt to survive outside the womb. What happens then?

Oh, I think you're right. I looked really quick on google and it said it didn't let them fertilize, but others are saying it does't let fertilized eggs implant. I think it does both - meaning it tries to prevent ferilization, but if that happens it tries to prevent implantation? I have no clue!

Re: North Dakota passes Abortion Ban...
This really really upsets me. There are soooo many reasons why abortion needs to be legal. Now there will be people performing abortions on themselves with coat hangers.

Re: North Dakota passes Abortion Ban...
All this is going to do is to bring unnecessary danger to women that will still have abortions. Hopefully they go elsewhere to get them done instead of trying things on their own.

I'll bet in North Dakota a fertilized egg has more rights than a gay person.

This is horrible. The woman who are going to be most hurt by this are poor woman who can't afford to cross state lines to find a doctor.

ETA- is in reference to the law, not the comments. I have no words. I think it's terrible news.

Re: North Dakota passes Abortion Ban...
absolute insanity.
this thought process simply goes against the laws of nature
That means a fetus could not be legally aborted without the procedure being considered murder

And what about ectopic pregnancies?
I wonder as well. My good friend at 19 weeks found out her baby had anacepholy and the baby wouldn't of gone to term or lived and she terminated her pregnancy. I just think of how much more painful that would of been for her if she had to go on longer.

Re: North Dakota passes Abortion Ban...
If life begins at fertilization, does than means embryos can't be destroyed. I guess there is going to be a lot more octuplet moms in this world.

when I went to my gyno and he asked if I wanted one he told me that it can work in 3 different ways but they aren't sure exactly which way or maybe it's all 3.
