Re: NOT "who are you voting for" but...
Honestly, not sure. The polling data from the swing states are still VERY fluid.
My gut says, though, that whomever wins Ohio, wins the whole shabang.

I think it's going to be Obama. To the OP I think you call her "this Sarah Chick" She is Governor and deserves more respect than that.
Good point! Racism and SEXISM are still strong. Personally I do not like Palin...or McCain...or Obama...or Biden.
Sorry to say but Ive seen WAY worse written on these boards about these candidates and no I DO NOT respect her and i dont have to.
ETA: I dont respect our president either so i guess im REALLY a bad American huh?
Not a bad american just a rude and disrespectful person. People of positions and titles should be called by them. You don't have to like or respect her politics but acknoledge her for having the current position she has not for the VP run, I haven't been on the boars very mych in the last few months and this is one of the first I have read and posted on.
Wow. I think this was uncalled for.
Plenty of people have called ALL of them worse than "that Sarah chick" and I don't see ANYONE here calling them by SENATOR Obama, SENATOR McCain or SENATOR Biden so why should she get Governor Palin?
Anyway. I'm nervous about it. I really hope Obama wins, we can't take 4 more years of the same party....no matter how much McCain is attempting to distance himself from it.

I don't like any candidates, but I like obama the least - I have a strong feeling he is going to win unfortunately. He is in the lead in all of the battleground states, except one and there isn't that much time for McCain to change the momentum

Wow. Looks like someone is trying to cause some trouble in this post.
But calling her Sarah Chick is not bad at all. I dont refer to Obama or Biden as Senator Obama or Senator Biden. I think I actually called Biden Dude once! Will you now use the sexism card? I'm guessing no, because he's a man.
I dont respect Palin, and I will call her alot worse than a chick.

Based on some of the inane comments that Sarah Palin has made since they announced her as the VP candidate, I think calling her that "Sarah chick" is pretty generous actually! That has nothing to do with her being a woman either just a really uneducated individual.

Re: NOT "who are you voting for" but...
In spite of the recent news, McCain pulling out of Michigan and all, I think it's going to be him. My feelings are that there are racist and ignorant people who won't vote for Obama, and there are people who love Sarah Palin despite her lack of qualifications to be President.

I think people will always say that Bush character, or that Joe guy. Its more a figure of speech than disrespect. I saw nothing wrong with it. I doubt whats her name is losing any sleep being referred to that way!

I think McCain is going to take it...mainly because I don't trust our ballots are being counted correctly.

I am all for Obama/Biden and sadly, I think McCain is going to win. There are still too many people in this country who are racist, ignorant - call it what you want - and will come out in droves to vote against a black President. It's depressing

Re: NOT "who are you voting for" but...
I'm pro obama and am very confident that he is going to win.... I frequently read a site called fivethirtyeight by Nate Silver (if you google it I think you can find it) that confirms my suspicions.. He is a baseball statistician who runs numerous regression analyses with TONS of polls, I believe he is highly regarded in the political community. As of today he has the odds of Obama winning the election at 84.4%... immediately following the Palin pick it had gone below 50% but it has worked its way back up... keeping my fingers crossed that there aren't any other major swings

Re: NOT "who are you voting for" but...
i think it is going to be EXTREMELY close. there are so many factors.
many people won't vote for barack because he's black. i hate to say it, but it's true. many independents won't vote for obama/biden because they are two of the top 5 most liberal senators-- too liberal for many independents. Also, many are worried about the tax raises Obama is proposing.
on the other side, many won't vote for McCain just because he is a Republican. Bush severely impacted any chance he had of an easy time in this election. Many disagree with McCain on the Iraq issue. Many won't vote McCain/Palin because people don't feel Palin is experienced enough.
It will be close, but i think Obama/Biden will win. People want the "change" that they think they will get from the Democratic party.

That's interesting you say that, because the Republicans are worried they won't take it because of what's going on in Ohio right now. they are doing a lot of voter registration drives and what not and the Republicans suspect that is fraudalent.
I don't think either party is confident. you never know.
What the past 2 elections (Bush vs. Gore and Bush vs. Kerry) and I believe this election will also prove is that Americans are disgruntled, frustrated and dissatisified with our political parties. It's NOT working anymore people.... it has become so partisan and only about the people in office. We have lost our ideal: "We the people, FOR the people"

Not a derogatory gender thing - its the equivalent of that guy or that dude. If someone referred to McCain or Obama as that dude, people wouldn't say it was a gender thing. They may say its not respectful, but gender would never even be in the equation - don't you think? But that black guy is ONLY about race. That's the difference...

I don't think she meant any harm... after all, this is an informal message board, not a state dinner.
And not saying the OP does not respect Palin-- who knows. But just because one person respects a person, doesn't mean someone else does. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and shouldn't necessarily be flamed for expressing them.
eta for typo
I completely agree with Randi and Conig. ....and this disussion was going just smoothly and fine....why is there always one person who's gotta make waves....its just an INFORMAL discussion!!!
