NOW Katie has blisters "down there" please read...
Im waiting for the ped to call me back - who ever is on call - Katie has a yeast infection from the antibiotic she was on for her ear infection...so now she's on a cream called "Nystatin" and we have to put it on her girl parts 3-4x a day. Today, after 24 hrs on the cream, 'down there' is SO red and looks like blisters are forming on the skin.
Anyone know what's going on or have this happen? Im guessing its an allergic reaction...
She doesnt SEEM to be in pain but it LOOKS horrible.

Does it say anything on the box the cream came in, or sometimes CVS gives you info about the medication and side effects.....I hope she feels better, I would call the Doctor asap about that!!

It doesnt say anything about side effects - it actually says side effects are rare. Im researching online right now and I dont see anything about what she has now (the blisters).
Im waiting for the dr to call back - she was paged - its been 20 mins. In 10 more mins I will call back.

How long has she been on the cream for? maybe its just from the yeast infection (the blisters)?
Hopefully the doctor can put her on another medication, is she off the antibiotic yet?

When I looked the cream up it says it may cause a rash as a side effect, so maybe Katie has gotten a blister like rash from it?

Maybe its a yeast/bacterial infection? Gianna had one of those and was put on bactroban ointment.
she got little blisters, looked like pimples that were clear, then they broke open on the skin looked raw-it oozed clear liquid and sometimes bled.
ETA: Also our ped told her after we put the cream on her to load her coolie up with vaseline otherwise the meds get absorbed into the diaper.

on a baby a yeast infection looks like raised red blisters. sometimes the skin can excoriate and leave open sores. the nystatin usually works pretty quickly! you can try leaving her open to air for a while, the diaper might be irritating her. i hope she feels better soon!!!

You're going to think I'm completely nuts but my sister swears by this (never needed to try it)...plain yogurt in the diaper. I know, I know. I usually use a probiotic (acidiphilus) when they're on an antibiotic.
Any health food store should have it.
eta. I have heard of Nystatin - I understand it works quickly. My niece was on it as a baby.

OK I spoke to the dr and she said it sounds like the Nystatinis not work - so DH just went to the store to buy Lotrimin and we're to put that on at each diaper change. We also have to take acidiphilus and break two open per day in her food/bottle.
They said if this doesnt work to call them and bring Katie in.

I get it shipped to the house in powder form & keep it in my fridge just in case. I haven't refilled it in awhile. If you want the info on where I get it, let me know.

sara had this . She was on a steriod compund because it didnt clear up. After seh was on the compund it cleared up in a few days. FM me if you want the name of it.
ALso the doc said to keep her diaper free for a few minutes each diaper chanage. To keep her dry
