NPR---My hubby just bought me the Nikon D60...any tips??
I love it so far but I am alittle cluesless...for those of you who have it can you give me any tips??

I don't actually have one (yet  ) but when I was checking them out last night I saw a book about Photography & Digital SLRs for Dummies. It was at Best Buy. Maybe start with that?

Have fun with it!!!!!!! I recently bought some books for learning more about it. My husband and I took a class but I learn better from books. The "Magic Lantern Guides" is a brand of camera books and their D-60 book looks good so far. I also bought a general digital photography book. If I can learn a few more features I will be very happy.

Ok, I have like a thousand tips but the main one would be starting out with the manual (I realize no one wants to read it but it is helpful).
If you're around Northport, they offer digital photography courses at the community center.
You can use it on Auto but the best thing about the camera is you can grow into it as you learn more & more about photography.
I'll post a few sites I have bookmarked when I get on my laptop.

Read the manual. Always read the manual, study it and learn it. Play with menus and settings. Always shoot at the highest quality - but don't go nuts and shoot in RAW at first.
Learn how to shoot in Manual -shutter speeds and aperture. Shoot and either write down your settings or learn how to use programs to access the file's info to see what you did shoot so you can really learn settings.

I bought that book....i leave it around the house so maybe my husband will get the hint....
I want an SLR!!!!

I agree about the manual. I only bought books after I had read it, plus the manual is a little bit flimsy and I wanted something I could carry around sometimes, like to read on the beach. I can't remember whether there is a .pdf or other computer file of the manual or anything like that. I don't think I looked for that but it is another idea.

congrats! that's a great camera  first tip is to take it off the Auto function! You'll take muuuuuuuuch better pics in A, P or M. I bought the DVD (i'm a visual learner) by Blue Crane and it was great! good luck and have fun!!

Ohhhh whats this DVD? That would be GREAT! I have the D90...would it be compatible?
