NPR but I need to vent loosing it here - sort of baby related and I think mommies will understand
We live in a condo. The elevator is always out of service, but it gets fixed within a day, and I'm not really a complainer. We are only on the fourth floor. I just leave the stroller in the car, and carry DS and bags up stairs.
But this time, the elevator has been out of service for a week. Usually my mom or mil watch ds so I can go shopping, but this week they are too busy. I can't go food shopping cause i can't carry DS and all the bags.
UPS/FedEx wont deliver because the elevator is out of order. They leave a notice, and I don't know how legit it is, or if they are just lazy, but I'm running out of diapers and I was expecting them.
I will call in food to be delivered and they come up and grunt about the elevator not working. I feel guilty calling anyone to walk up 4 flights. They all act like they are dying. And I've done it every day this week, carrying a almost 26lb baby his diaper bag full of sippies and snacks and blankets and maybe a shopping bag with milk and eggs if I mustered the strength.
The janitor watched me do it, was going to offer to help, but he's smart I guess, asked me what floor I'm on. I said 4, he said oh that's high , I'm like yea, but I'm not lazy and its good exercise. I wanted to kick him.
I'm usually so creative to get around these things, I used to live on 6th floor walkup in the city. I could do anything. But add a baby in the mix and everything is 100x harder.
I don't know who to complain to. Our condo board is a barrel of monkeys. Our neighbors don't pay maintenance and get away with it. I called the management company but after about 30 seconds I lost it, and just told the woman to start looking for another job, because I'm getting in touch with my friends at the district attorney and they will be shut down in 1 week. I feel like an idiot for even talking that way to them, but I was just so mad at that point and it was all building up. I don't break down and cry that easily but this is just broke me. And DH works from 6am to 10pm with meetings and emergencies all week. I haven't really told him how I'm feeling because I feel like hes so stressed with work, compared to his stress mine is really little. No lives are in danger on my end, I can't say the same for him. And I know he's going to absorb all of it, and just take it upon himself as the man of the house to fix things, and I just know its going to add more on his shoulders cause nothing can be done.
Thanks for your virtual ears, it just helps to think someone is listening and might begin to understand how a mommy feels.
Oh and if your wondering whats going on, they are waiting on a part to be delivered to fix the elevator.
I don't understand I can diapers in 24 hours. They cant get an critical elevator part?

well thats ridiculous that the elevator is out of svc for so long, considering you pay maitenence fees for these things.
I would be ****** as well and i would keep complaining until its fixed. There could be an emergency, or handicapped/elderly people that need to use it. Unacceptable that its not working.
Can you call 311?? they may be able to help.
I lived in a 3 family house as a kid until I got married and walked up stairs all day long. If i had to do that with a kid and diaperbags, I'd be dead. I'd have to get one of these elderly seats that let people ride up along the wall installed.
I hope it gets resolved!

How many floors are in the building?
Is there a freight elevator?
