Re: NPR extreme couponing
I use coupons but I don't know of any supermarket that has doubling, tripling and accepting more than one coupon per item. If anyone knows of a supermarket that triples coupons or accepts more than one coupon for an item.....please, tell me.....I love coupons.

Re: NPR extreme couponing
I do but I have come to the realization that there is NO way ever that I'll ever go and get the type of discounts that these people get nor will ever have a need for most of the things that these people get..
I print out alot of coupons online as well as reading the paper and getting them there..

Re: NPR extreme couponing
love that show but I agree with the ap- I dont know how they do it- the supermarkets around me don't double, have limits on how many sale items you can buy and dont allow multiple coupons
Not to mention that if I pulled up to the register with 10 carts and 200 coupons, I'd be lynched in the parking lot

Re: NPR extreme couponing
Here in NC, 1 or 2 supermarkets here have triple coupon days up to $0.99 sometimes $1.00. It usually lasts for 3 days several times a year. They have double coupons EVERYDAY!
ETA: You can't use multiple coupons for the same item unless it's a manufacturers and the stores coupon.
And if they have BOGO free on items, you don't have to get both you can get one for half the price!

Re: NPR extreme couponing
Im in suffolk county. Stop and shop and waldbuams will double up to .99 cents, King Kullen doubles up to $1.00 They have restrictions on print out coupons (just forgot rules). I check the weekly ad and use coupons on sale items. I dont buy what me and my family wont use. I use Coupon Mom website and asky my nieghbor for her coupons she does not use. I also use Commonsensewithyourmoney.com - they match up sales and coupons for you (Target, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgrees, ect ect). Every penny counts these days but I dont go crazy cutting and buying 62 of anything..

Re: NPR extreme couponing
I cut coupons but only for things we'll use. Like none of us care for Miracle Whip, so even if the store was going to pay us to take it we wouldn't since it's a waste in our house.
King Kullen is closest to me and they double up to a dollar, but only 5 max per visit and I think only 2 coupons total can be printed from home.
Target is a good place for coupons since they will take a manufacturer's coupon AND their coupon on an item, so if it's on sale and they've sent out coupons you can do well there.
BJs also takes their coupon and a manufacturer coupon for one item.

Re: NPR extreme couponing
I got motivated too after watching! I don't think we can ever get to the level those ladies get with their discounts. Paying $5 for a shopping cart of $500 in products is not realistic here for a variety of reasons.
The main reason being alot of stores have restrictions on how many coupons you can use so they don't have some woman coming in and buying 77 bottles of mustard (that lady is insane!).
I already bought 25 coupon storage sheets (sheets used to store baseball cards) to get my coupon binder started.
I'm also going to check out couponmom.com and afullcup.com to for helpful tips and coupons.

Re: NPR extreme couponing
I was watching this too. It is like a combo of OCD and hoarding...I mean really do you need 100 bottles of mustard?? Will you go through that ever in your life? Or do you need to have 1200 rolls of toilet paper in your house at 1 time?
I just try to plan my shopping trip. I try to buy mainly things that are on sale, and if I have a coupon for it then I'm even happier! I like that a lot of the weekly circulars even show what has a coupon in the paper and show you that item X costs $A normally, is on sale for $B, and with the coupon in the paper you end up only paying $C. Makes it even easier for me!
Also for me I can make it so that CVS and RiteAid are on the way to the supermarket, so sometimes I'll stop at one or both on the way. Especially if they have a sale on a cereal that I want. Like today I am definitely going to CVS since tuna is 10/$10 and Claritin is on sale for $19.99 (for a box of 30) and there was a coupon for this week only for $7 off.
I try to take like 30-60mins on Sunday to go through the sales and coupons and get an idea of what I want to get.
