NPR--Little pity vent... I want a House!!
Ive been in a slump for awhile now.. nothing major.. just want a house!! It stinks that we live in my fathers house and now baby #2. Not even close to having enough $$ for a house. There was a house around the block which dh and I fell in love with one day while on a walk.. couldnt find it listed on site just too see what they were asking. And just noticed on our walk the other day it was sold  .. It was gorgeous.. huge yard, big house, plus in my fathers neighborhood, so i could still be here for him..
I cant take it anymore.. NY is just too exspensive.. I started working on getting my second license for my job and hoping to take test in Jan.. baby #2 is due in feb.. so hopefully this summer we can start looking out of state..
Why cant they just make LI more affordable???????

its soo hard.. limited space.. Im gratefull my father lets us stay here and dd has a yard to play in.. but being in my 30s and being told by my father "my house, my rules" is horrible!!!

 Vent away...I used to feel the same way. It still irks me that I can't be near my family but I know we made the right decision. You will make do for now. A wonderful house will come your way, maybe there or maybe not, but it will come.

I know exactly how you feel. It will happen for you soon enough. Living in New York is so expensive atleast now you can save up for the dream house that you want.

Same here. Just hold on. Everything will work out. I know it's hard not to be impatient. I remember that feeling all too well.

I totally understand. I am in a house now, but the cost of being here on Long Island is just too much, the stress isin't worth it, and once I am done with School. DH and I will def. be looking to get the heck outta here!

I have BAD nursery envy!
We could not have made it work in NY.
It wasn't even a thought.
Now, we are waiting to hear where LEo will be transferred next so then we can finally buy...but quickly we are outgrowing this apt.
Look at the positives though...we may be crammed in with no yard, but its zero stress in these crazying economic times...someone else's money going into repairs...easy to clean(this is my daily ritual in my head ) but not to discredit your feelings, I have them too. I just want to feel settled.

I want a house too but unfortunately my husband said absolutely no LI where houses are quite affordable compared to Queens. So we're staying in Queens. Houses here are $500K and up thus requiring a chunk of change for a downpayment. We decided to settle for a co-op until baby #2 arrives, after which we will sell and buy our dream home. We don't want to go out of state (I don't want to be away from our families), or commute and we both work in the city.
Just try to be wise in your spending and save and even if its out of state, you will find your dream home eventually!
