NT Scan question
So I just scheduled my NT scan for June 23rd (I will be exactly 13 weeks)
So what is this NT scan, what exactly do they do, what are they looking for or testing for, and how long for results?
TIA

Ditto. They test for Down's Syndrome and other chromosomal abnormalities.

Re: NT Scan question
They are testing for down syndrome markers and measuring the baby's nuchal fold (the fat at the back of the baby's neck). They will do a sono and a finger prick for a blood sample. When you get the results, they'll usually go over your's and DH's genetic history.
ETA: My sono was external.

Re: NT Scan question
Mine was a 5 min (if that) internal sonogram and finger prick blood test.

Re: NT Scan question
They check the risk of having Down syndrome and some other chromosomal abnormalities as well as major heart problems. Dr. or tech will measure the clear/ translucent space in the tissue at the back of baby's neck.
BTW At my NT scan they told me I am having a boy. They weren't 100% sure, but it was enough for me. LOL

Re: NT Scan question
When I had it for my DD, the sono was about 15-20 mins. I had already sent my bloodwork in, so they had those results already.
After the sono, the tech went out of the room for about 5 minues, put all the measurements and my bloodwork into their system and came back with my results!
At that time - she guessed boy...but was wrong!
I have my NT for this baby on June 23rd too!
