Nuby straw sippy cups

Is there a trick to them?
I bought one to try for my DD. I got the small one with the handles. She loves to hold it and tries to take sips from it but has trouble. So I tried to drink from it and it was hard. U have to bite and suck on the straw to get the liquid through.
Anyone else have any input on this?

I never bought this one. I only tried the sports sipper. Could you make the hole bigger or is it an actual straw?

I found the same thing when I bought that NUBY cup. When DD was younger and first started with the sippy I ended up switching to the Nuby Spout for the same reason.

Now she uses the bigger straw Nuby and has no problem (similar to the one in the pic, but insulated)

I have the same ones and I have to tell you she holds it to her month and looks like she is trying to suck but nothing comes out - I tried one and it was VERY difficult to get any liquid too. My issue is that she will only take water from a sippy cup some of the time - otherwise she loves to hold it, chew on the spout and throw it all over so I think I need a something with a straw - it took us forever to get her to take a bottle - now she takes that with no problem - but doesn't want anything else - she can drink straight from a cup - with no lid - but honestly it is too messy and with her swatting etc it is all over.

Are there any straw sippys that don't spill but aren't so difficult to get fluid out of?

these are the ones i started with and kept with. Both girls drank out of them at 6-7 months old and still do.

I love these cups, only ones that they love.
