I actually find all of these posts very interesting...there is no right or wrong here...this is politics, everyone has different views, if you feel very strongly about something go ahead and argue your point...thats what this site is for...for opinions and discussions...
If I am not interested in something, I simply do not click on the thread. Let's not get all controlling here and start requesting new boards, etc. just bc you don't feel like avoiding the thread.

Actually - there were people asking “What does (insert candidate) stand for?" and "I want to know about THEM and their voting records, not who they slept with"...
There are several "undecided" voters on this very board who said they are now voting McCain solely BECAUSE he picked Palin, because she was a working Mom who would understand them and the concerns they had. However, perhaps information like this censorship (if true) would outweigh their feeling that she's a good choice based on understanding the issues facing a working mother.
If you don’t want info on this candidate or have already made up your mind about your decisions, don’t read the posts, but if you’re undecided and want more info on a candidate, perhaps you are interested in these posts.
Rock on, Ophelia. Knowledge is power, voting is important and everyone should be informed and WANT to be informed and know what their candidate stands for.

Not my intent or thought process on a different board. Just seems like a lot of people are thinking and talking and wanting to talk about this stuff, so figured a new board would help group things together better so everyone can have a say.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion...that's what makes our country great.....what I do find so interesting is there is also a LOT of dirt out there about Obama, incluing some VERY shady alliances and friends, who he received favors from--his relationship and friendship with Tony Rezko, who is now facing multiple federal charges, his pastor Jeremiah Wright, who in Barack's own words was :like a member of the family" but the words coming out of his mouth were horrendous!!!! or his relationship with the writer from the nation that is on his payroll yet is a believer in communism..... and many, many other items but we don't hear much about these and the "scandalous" tone around them.....it's very interesting and I have somewhat beomce sickened by the witch hunt going on around Sarah Palin while Barack is made out to look perfect......and don't get me started on the new US Magazine cover......but again to each his own....

Knowledge based on facts and accurate information is power. Unsubstantiated, unsupported allegations are often damaging. FTR, I'm NOT referring to this thread either. I'm talking about many things that have been posted here about the election (e.g., "Obama is Muslim") Those things are NOT empowering.
I just hope that this board isn't anyone's primary source of information about the canditates. I DO hope it causes people to go out and do more research about all the candidates. I don't think anyone should be silenced on these issues at all - nor do I think anyone had any ill-itent in posting the things that they did. I've found a lot of inaccurate information and information based on many unproven assumtions posted on these boards. In my research, I also learned that a lot of things I thought were true actually weren't. Sometimes we don't know what we don't know and that can be the worst. I just encourage everyone to question, research, and learn more and not to assume that anything posted here (by me or anyone else ) is a cold, hard fact.
Hopefully this is encouraging people to learn more - it's encouraging me to do more research on all the candidates, that's for sure.

Again, I agree wholeheartedly. I hate when I hear people repeating ‘misinformation’ about ANY topic, not just politics. I can’t believe how people just are willing to accept what the ‘hear’ without looking into it on their own. The information today is so accessible due to the internet.

ITA.. couldn't have said it any better myself
ETA: I think the point of this post was another issue that has come up. THe first post was very clear that she didn't know all the facts. That would cause me to look into it more. Palin is the new gal in the race, people are going to focus on her, especially since we don't know much about her. I think that's fair.

I'm glad to see the substantiated NY times story. Be careful of wikipedia.
This past Saturday, I was up in the wee hours of the morning. I went on wikipedia to find out more information on Palin. Her biography stated "She had plans to elope to France with k.d.lang, but her conservative family intervened."
I am NOT kidding. When I went to the source code to see where it came from, I couldn't find it. I went back several times. Within about 2 full minutes, it was pulled.
The information comes from the public & if verified, stays up.

A lot of things in Palin's background are disturbing to me. I read an article in the Times today about her time in office in AK. It did include the library story. I don't know if we really need any more information. If it's true, I don't think there is much that could mitigate censorship for me.

and the NY times is very demo...so I didn't think it would be a great source for anyone more conservative
I've been researching this topic for the last 2 days but am mostly coming across references and blogs....if I find anything MORE substantive than the firing and the rehiring and the banning convo....I'll gladly post it.
I realize circumstantial evidence does not a slam dunk make.
eta: I realize I said to start at Wikipedia..I stand by that. I still think it's in the very least, a good jumping off point. and they are very good at monitoring what gets on there.
