Numbness/tingling in hands...
This just started happening... its almost like my hands have pins and needles... and go a little numb for a few seconds...
Usually just opening and closing them fixes the problem...but its still a little freaky (it doesnt hurt- but its weird)
I have a similar feeling in my feet when the swell up- but my hands/finger are not swollen at all...
I go to the Dr today, so Ill mention it...
Any ideas what it could be???
Im 34 weeks this week.

Really???? It doesnt hurt though...
I mean it happens all the time at night (all different parts of my body) but I figured it was the way I was positioned (or even the position of the baby)
But its just sparatic during the day now... now rhyme or reason...ya know???
See something similar happens to my feet...its like I feel the water swelling up- this is different and there is no swelling...
Ohhh the joys...

Re: Numbness/tingling in hands...
for me....and i can't speak for others....this is my normal day:
wake up - the pain is HORRIFYING...it's at it's WORST when i wake up. I can barely close my fist because my hand just feels 'stiff'. Just this morning - Dave had to turn on the shower water for me - because i couldn't GRIP & TURN at the same time...
by the time we're in the car - (we carpool). the pain is lessened - but the tingling has taken over. he drives to his job and i take over and drive to mine. when driving - i literally hold the wheel with my left hand until that goes numb, then switch over to the right until i lose that hand and go back & forth.
now i'm at work - at my desk - there has not been a 30 second period today that my hands aren't tingling...it goes from tingle on a 3 to tingle on a 10 for no good reason...it just happens.
by tonight - the pain will get worse, because of the lack of blood flow ALL DAY LONG....and i'll be back to the same thing by tomorrow AM.
i have tried tylenol and that soothes SOME of the ache - but nothing short of having my arms at my sides helps...and then THAT causes swelling.
it was NOT this bad at first...it seems to get worse with every passing day. At first - it was just my left hand, now it's both. At first - the brace that Gina talked about helped a LOT - now it does nothing...
i'll post a pic of the brace i liked...

Re: Numbness/tingling in hands...
Just went to the Dr yesterday & I was sent to a neurologist & it was determined that I have carpal tunnel in my left hand. I have the exact same symptoms as you but only in my left hand. It seems if I sleep on that side my entire arm is numb & tingling. I was told to wear a brace to sleep & when the baby is born it will go away.

Re: Numbness/tingling in hands...
It's carpal tunnel. I had tingling in my hands beginning in the first trimester. At first, I'd wake up once or twice b/c I had the pins and needles feeling in my hands. After a few minutes, it went away. It got progressively worse. By the middle of the third trimester, most of my fingers were constantly numb. I wore braces at night, which helped a little. My fingers stayed numb for a little while after I gave birth, but they were back to normal within a few weeks.

Re: Numbness/tingling in hands...
it's carpel tunnel.. i had it with along with arthritis & tendonitius... mine went away within 3 months of giving birth. i saw a neurologist and i had a cortizone shot in my left hand and it hurt so bad i never went back for my right hand. he fitted me with braces for both hands... with that pregnancy i had it 2nd trimeaster on ALL day.
with this pregnancy with i have it again, not arthritis or tendonitius, but CP, its bad but i know there is nothing i can really do help it, except what i did last time with the braces, but they dont seem to work as well. its begining to be an all day thing, but i just grin and bear it bc i know it will go away.

Re: Numbness/tingling in hands...
ITA with the PPs, I had Carpel Tunnel in my second trimester and luckily it subsided in my third. It got really painful so my heart goes out to anyone still suffering with it!

This was my experience as well. Within a couple of weeks of having DD it was gone.
