Nursing Mom's- Bottle rec's
Hey, Sorry to crash but, I am finding choosing bottles and breastmilk storage to be sooo overwhelming.
I think I am getting the Medela pump. (any reviews?). I will be going back to work after about 5 months.
So what bottles and storage systems do you recommend. I would like use BPA free ones but, I'm not sure what works easily for that pump... or if that even matters. I have no idea how this all works.
TIA for the help!

I used the Medela PIS.... OMG.... it was my SALVATION! I was so engorged b4 I was able to use the pump, and then once I started pumping.... Ohhhhhhhh the relief!
I used the BF bottles which I loved. Also, you can use the Medela bottles which are BPA free too!
There is also a new Playtex (I believe) bottle which is BPA free that looks sooooo much like a nip.... Looks like it would also eliminate any nip/breast/bottle confusion!
When pumping, just pump and pour into a bag for freezing.... No Problems! I used the Lansinoh freezer bags. They were great. No problems at all.

Re: Nursing Mom's- Bottle rec's
Hi! I started with Playtex Drop-Ins but Ryan soon decided he didn't like them, then Dr. Brown's he liked but we didn't have the BPA free kind so we moved on to Born Free which he has been content with ever since. I think it's def. trial & error!
I use the Lansinoh storage bags in the freezer - best price I've found is the box of 50 at Target for $9.99. BBB or BRU will charge you $8.99 for the box of 25 - it def. adds up if you plan to pump a lot. I was going thru almost a box of 50 a wk at the height of my production.
Good luck

One more question.. If I was to get a few of the playtex nipples and the drop in bottles... Do I use the freezer bags with that? Or Do I pour the milk from the freezer bags into the drop in bags?

I used the lansinoh milk storage bags for the freezer.
I used Avent bottles. Like a pp said, it is trial and error to see what your DC will like.

I think there i a way to freeze the milk in those bags but you must have it in bottle b/c there is no way to seal it.
I used Lansinoh bags in the freezer, took them out as needed, and poured into bottles after defrosting.

I have only pumped and fed, as my ds never latched on... I use the avent isis duo pump and so I also use the matching bottles...Considering that my ds drinks 40-50 ounces a day i would say that the pump is definitely holding up...use the bottles that go wth your pump otherwise you have to wash twice as many bottles.. i also use the gerber storage bags... hint on the freezing of milk... lay them flat to freeze initially for then they stack easier...

Re: Nursing Mom's- Bottle rec's
gerber freezer bags actually convert into the playtex drop in bags... no transfer needed... just rip off the top

Re: Nursing Mom's- Bottle rec's
I love my Medela PIS. It is amazing!! I highly recommend it.
As for bottles, DS likes the Born Free bottles because of the wide nipple. He did well in terms of gas with the Dr. Brown's but I only have the regular size ones. DS drools out most of the milk with a smaller nipple.
I use the Lansinoh freezer bags. They are very heavy and sturdy.

I'm using the Medela PIS as well. It has been REALLY good. Very comfortable to use.
We are using the Dr. Brown's bottles for DD. No problems at all, and she doesn't seem to be having any nipple confusion problems, either.

Completely agree on all points except I had the PISA. It was the best purchase I could make. Even though it is pricy it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO worth it.

This is what we use also-I also have Adiri but they are stage two so I haven't gotten to use them yet. I used Born Free but felt like they gave them gas tho I am thinking that may be just because they were younger and had belly troubles from immaturity-my LC said she liked the born free because they were bigger nipples but like Beth, my boys have no problem switching from bottle to breast even with the Dr Browns
