You see, I never understood his thinking. So you wait until early in the morning, when its HARDER for people to call out of work at the last minute. Let parents plan if they need to for child care for their children. Because in the end, those who are going to go to work and dont have child care, will leave their kids at home alone. Give them time to plan.
And I agree with the safety of teachers as well. I also have an issue with schools being treated as babysitting services. I know people work, I know it's hard with scheduling and stuff..but overall, school is school..not somewhere you send your child so you can go to work. Thats just my feeling though.

he will close....im sure making the public wait is some sort of sick pleasure hes getting. i mean he closed schools last year the day before the storm and the "storm" turned out to be a joke.
and this is exactly why he won't call it early, he will never make that mistake again

I invite him to be my substitute. Id love to see him try to manage my class of 6. yeah I have 6. But he STILL couldn't do it.

You are from my world, we have classes of 6 with 6 adults and it still isn't enough.

I know this will sound like a he-hates-teachers-   but it's hard to think anything else when he tells people to stay off the road and then opens the schools. Many teachers, even those like me who use public transit, have to drive.
Well if this is true, don't feel bad. Its not just teachers. ALL city agencies and local government offices are open as well.
