NYC Layoffs?
Any word yet on layoffs?
My union rep said everyone would know by last Friday. I didn't hear anything at my school.
Still trying to figure out where I stand for next year.

Re: NYC Layoffs?
The budget from Albany had to come through first (which happened today) and then Bloomberg will make his decisions. You could find out next week, month or at the end of the year!

Re: NYC Layoffs?
So far, it seems like Bloomberg is not getting his way on LIFO, but who knows- the law has to be changed, criteria needs to be drawn up and principals will need to be somehow protected from lawsuits because I believe MOST of them will go for the older, more expensive teachers.
So I will be surprised if many layoffs happen- he does not want to lose those new teachers.
And he will have a harder time justifying the $20 million he wants to spend on recruiting.
