I don't expect a miracle, by any means, but I do believe that he will have a positive effect on our country. I'm also realisitic, and think it will take a very long time for Obama as well as others, to fix the mess that he's been left with.

i agree with this.. George Dubya has left us in such a horrible state.. it's going to take years to dig out.. but we're motivated and fired up!!

Indeed! I could not agree more!! It is easy to blame everything on Bush but we are ALL in it! We all did it! The fact that financially this country is in SH8t is the fault of all of us!

I CAN'T believe he got out of the limo and is walking. In this day and age, I find it unimagineable, even seeing with my own eyes.

I thought they all did that.

well, I am perfectly up to date with my mortgage.

but I don't take that atitude. it's splitting hairs.

we are a NATION. what happens to ONE happens to all.

when my neighbor loses his house or job, it affects ME. and vice versa.

so while I may not PERSONALLY have contributed...this is where we are as a WHOLE.

one nation.

under....(whoever or whatever you believe in)

with liberty and justice for all.

i didn't vote for him, but today and for the next four years, he is my leader. i wish him luck and success, because it translates (partially, anyway) into my family's luck and success. You gotta support.

I know they all do it, but I just find it amazing. I hate to say it, but there are a lot of people that wish harm against Obama and his family. That he can get out and walk down the street is pretty neat, but still weird to me.

I'm just ecstatic that the US can be a participating member of the world community again. I don't know anyone who's pinning their hopes on 'the man' so much as his ideas and ideals, as compared to his predecessor.
While I have a deep respect for the Office, I am left with no respect for "W" as a man... He was alternately a bully or a dolt, and I wish him a long quiet retirement in Crawford. Good riddance.

I am excited for Obama and a fresh start, however, I found it disrespectful that people were booing Bush as his motorcade was driving by. I don't think that he was the best president, but on this day of "optimism" and "hope" it was a little disrespectful. Just don't cheer.

I agree, there is no need for that. I would NEVER clap for him but I would not boo him either.

ITA, or singing childish songs as he was walking out of the Capitol during the ceremony. Even the newscasters said it was "poor form." Though they continued to show it in the crowds, they tried to mute it in their coverage.

I'm thankful for his service and thankful for all of those people who serve our nation in so many ways.

I also think we can not blame one person for all of our faults, nor can we pin our dreams onto another. We are all responsible.

Ah, ok, I see what you mean now. It does seem scary, especially compared to all the precautions they take with the car.

There is probably more secret service there than we realize. There are the obvious suits, as in the Bush picture, but probably more in the crowd. I did here that there was more security this year than ever before.

I didn't see it but someone today at work was laughing and talking about it and I said how disrespectful I thought it was and this person got in my face

I don't expect overnight change.
I don't expect drastic change in a year.
Heck, it's a huge undertaking that I don't expect change in 4 years.

But just the unity, the hope, the excitement and the tears of joy...that's enough for me to know that change is coming.

I don't expect a miracle, by any means, but I do believe that he will have a positive effect on our country. I'm also realisitic, and think it will take a very long time for Obama as well as others, to fix the mess that he's been left with.
