odie is in heaven
on my way home from work, i got a call from my son. he was hysterical, a lady took the phone from him and told me that my dog had been hit by a car and had died.
a lady driving by, picked up my son and dog (he was still alive at the time) and took them to a local animal hospital. odie died before they got to there.
i was crying the entire way and i stayed on the phone with my son until i got there. the poor boy. he couldn't speak. i would just hear him sniffling and eventually i could hear him telling the dog that it's ok and that he's just taking a nap.
when i got there, the dog was covered by a blanket and he really looked like he was napping. but my son's hand was bandaged. it seems that the dog bit him because of his pain.
we decided to cremate odie, so we can keep him.
i then had to take my son to the ER because of the dog bite.
this dog drove us crazy! he had separation anxiety and would destroy the house while we were out. he was a pain in the a$$, but we loved him.
the worst part is that my son had to grow up today. he had to see a loved one die in his arms. i wish i could take that pain away from him. he's been crying almost non-stop.
i can't stop crying

Wow, that's so horrible, I am so so sorry for you and your family.
Thank God for that woman who drove by and helped Odie and your son... what an angel, at least your son had someone there with him to help and try to save Odie's life. If there's any tiny silver lining in this it's seeing how important it is to help other people in times of personal need.
I'll be praying for you, your son and Odie, may he rest in peace.
