Well, the lady at the info desk would have had no way of knowing it unless some flag came up in the computer when she looked him up for me....but it's probably better that I wasn't there at that exact moment because it sounds like that was when he woke up and freaked out and pulled out all of his lines.
I'm just seeing this now, Melissa. I hope Bill is doing much better tonight. Please let me know if I can help in any way. I'm so close to where you live and New Island.
My Mom is on her way over to watch Emily and I am going to go back up to the hospital in a little bit.
Spoke with the doc and he said that the chest x-rays show no signs of pneumonia -- they still have to do CAT scans of his chest to rule out other things -- his oxygen levels are at 50% --- which I don't really know what that means. The doctor was hard to understand, so hopefully when I go up the nurse can explain things in more detail.
I am still praying for you guys-his oxygen levels are still 50% even on the respirator?
Yeah that doesn't make sense to me either unless he meant the ventilator settings are set at 50% O2.
Melissa I'm still praying for you're DH to have a speedy recovery! Please keep us updated and FM if you have any medical questions. I'm a little out of practice now since I'm an L&D RN but I used to work in the ICU so feel free to ask me anything and I'll see if I can answer it.
My dad was on a respirator for a week this summer and he came off it it OK. He also had to be sedated and they had a hard time doing it--they had to put the meds at a high level and they restrained him in the bed with cloth / plastic handcuffs so that he couldn't rip them out--so don't freak out if they do that.
Please FM if you have any questions or you need anything. I will pray for you and your family!!
