Oh PRAISE THE SLEEP GODS! UPDATE on night 1 of CIO!

SO last night we did CIO..... I think I drank like 3 beers during this whole process I was so anxious These are the notes out of the sleep log I've been keeping to track all of this for those moms who want to do CIO just an example of how my night went. (anytime you see "retime" it means she stopped crying or went to fussing and so then I re-set the timer of when I go in)

At 7:00 pm we started our bath routine I swaddled her with the swaddle me from the waste down nursed her and laid her in the crib drowsy but awake at 7:36 pm…. She started fussing and then full out crying to I went in at 7:48 (3 min of solid crying) soothed her told her in a stern voice mama loves you but you need to go night night.
By 8:00pm she was asleep. I only had to go in once!

At 8:48pm she woke up went in 8:51 pm re-swaddled and soothed (3 Min) start at 8:52.
8:57 went in soothed hysterical crying (5 Min)
retime 8:58
went in 9:05 soothed, hysterical crying. Retime 9:08 pm
retime 9:11pm
retime 9:12 pm
9:15 pm asleep…………

woke up 4:45 am to nurse went back down drowsy but awake 5:15 am cooed until
retime: 5:36 am
retime 5:38 am
retime 5:40 am
asleep 5:43 am woke up at 6:00 am and fussed for like 3 min and back to sleep.
Slept until 9:30 am!!!


She woke up a COMPLETELY NEW BABY!!!! SOOOOOO HAPPY and awake and cheerful! We had a great morning! 2 hours on the dot of when she woke up (11:30am.) she started getting a little fussy so I went upstairs, closed the blinds nursed her and laid her down in the crib drowsy but awake at 11:47 am she fussed and played in the crib for a few minutes and was fast asleep by noon and is still napping!!!


I am SOOOOO HAPPY I stuck to this last night and will continue it. I fee like a new person. Not only is she going back to sleeping at night but NOW is FINALLY NAPPING!!! AND in her CRIB!!!

I'm kind of sad, I'm washing all the linens for teh co-sleeper and packing it away today My baby is growing up!!!!

Nice work!!

We have been doing CIO with DD for about a week now. It's still difficult--80% of the time she'll go to sleep with no problem, but the other 20% she fights us.

Regardless, it's a huge improvement, and as hard as CIO has been on me, I think the payoff is huge.

Keep up the good work!

Great news! The ped told me yesterday that I could start doing this with DS even though he is only 4 months old. She said she bases it on size, not age. So thanks for the info you gave, it will be a big help!
