Oil, COD and contracts

I've been reading the various posts about oil, and it made my husband and I go hmmmmmmmm....

I am a teacher and was looking to go through HEAT USA, but after reading disappointing posts about General Utilities, we decided COD might be the way for us to go this year...

Here are my questions:

1. For those of you who do COD, will companies come in the evening or on weekends for those who have two working spouses and need to pay on the spot?

2. Which company do you use for your yearly contract for the burner?

3. If you have CAC, do you use the same company as your heat for any type of service contract?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

most places will let you leave a check in your mailbox or pay over the phone with a CC, its not really CASH on delivery, just payment.

We don't have a contract, we just pay the company we usually get our oil from to service our system 2x per year.

We don't have CAC.

Thanks for the reply! I'm still wondering about a contract. I'm such a nervous nelly, I wonder what happens if something goes wrong with the burner or CAC and it's not covered under a contract.

Anyone else want to share how they work their contract and still have COD oil deliveries??

Thanks!

DH is a teacher and we have not liked what we have heard about dealing with Heat USA...I had General for years and prefer not to deal with them any more..they WERE a good company but I feel that things have changed..

I pay per oil delivery. I have basically saved money by doing it this way..not much overall but some..I make sure I fill up in September when the rates are usually the cheapest..

We dont have a contract on the burner or the AC...we have friends who do HVAC and can help us with anything that my DH cant do himself...

We use John's Fuel Oil..they are in Holbrook or Holtsville I forget which.
