Oil prices- contract or COD

Today I paid 3.61 for 275 gallons from Mid Island fuel, cod. I like using mid Island... they're nice, they always price match, they show up the same day. The only thing is that they don't offer a service contract because they're COD.

We had a contract with Slomins for a year- They were horrible and we paid much more. I'm not sure what I want to do now.

What do you guys do, contract or cod? Do you pay for an outside burner contract if you do cod?

Also, if anyone can tell me what they recently paid for an oil contract that would be great. TIA.

I thought 3.61 was pretty good. Other places wanted 4.20 per gallon. I don't want to get stuck paying that over the winter. Chat Icon

Our system is 8 years old but its crappy. We pay to have it serviced/tuned up every year and then we do COD. If it breaks we can still get an emergency service call, we just have to pay for it.
I still think its worth the risk because I have saved so much by doing COD every year.
I use JC Discount for COD and I have even had them do service. No problems ever

Re: Oil prices- contract or COD

we do COD, we have a great guy that fixes burners if something should happen. For us we think a contract is a waste.

We just ordered oil from John's fuel oil, they were cheeper than discount-Fuel.com and we usually use discount-Fuel.com.
