I finally decided to splurge and buy yet another stroller - a double this time - and now I am watching news12 and see they are recalling them - my luck!

No worries! Check to see when your stroller was manufactured. This is a volutary recall for the buckle. If the stroller was manufactured after Feb. 2009, it is equipped with the new buckle closure. And if I'm not mistaken, the stores had been taking them off the shelves with prior manufacture dates. Breathe easy. And tell us if you love it... I'm gonna buy one soon too!
ETA: There was a thread earlier this month about this... Baby Jogger Recall

I just got my new buckle on Friday. It took about 2 weeks for me to get them though. I definitley think the new buckle is 100% better.

if you got it from Albee baby it was probably the 2008 version which means it was recalled (I got mine at albee baby with 10% off and free shipping too). It isn't a big deal - I found out last month when they first mentioned the recall a full month or so before it made it onto CPSC. They actually shipped it on the day I found out about the recall (someone on here posted about it a month ago).
Don't bother trying to fix it yourself - they sent us new buckles (we have the double too) and you can change the shoulder straps without a problem but not the crotch strap. They say you might be able to do it with pliers but the easier way is to unsow it, put the clip on then have it professionally re-stitched. That is what they told DH and I on 2 different calls. So DH called them and told them no - that it would affect the integrity of the straps (b.c they were fraying trying to change them - it is obvious that they put the buckle on then sow it closed when they make the stroller. They simply put a new double seat in the mail and we had it 3 days later.

It was hard the get the old buckle off But I just used a butter knife to break the old buckle (took a few trys but I eventually got it). Then installing the new buckle was easy as the strap fit through the slot on the new buckle. ETA: I have the single.

I just got my new buckle yesterday and replaced it in about 5 minutes myself, I have the single though, so I am not sure if thats the difference why mine was so easy?
