i think they're like burping clothes, but for your lap.... some babies liked to be burped on your lap. also they're probably good for leaks and poops too!

I could be wrong but it was my understanding that the lap pads could be used for anything. To put on your lap (to catch drool and spit up from the baby), on the floor, in the pack n play, etc...

Not a dumb question at all. Lap pads can be used to put on your lap to rest baby and make sure it protects your clothing. I know in my case, my DD has very bad reflux and would constantly spit up when drinking her bottle and also in between feedings. A lap pad would definitely help to keep anyone holding her cleaner and drier.

not a dumb question at all! a lot of babies, especially BFed ones, tend to have diaper blow outs mid-feeding and those lap pads might save an outfit or five of yours i also put them on the changing table in case DS poops mid-diaper change, which happened a LOT when he was a newborn. that way i jsst switched out the pad and didn't have to change the whole changing table cover.

Re: ok dumb question from a 1st time mommy
I use my lap pads on top of the changing pad on my dresser. If DS has a bad explosion or the diaper leaks out, it's easier to slip it out from underneath him. Also, I keep large disposable lap pads in his diaper bag in case the koala changing area looks really gross and I don't want to put my changing pad directly on it.
